ANSI only won't help, entering A = A for a user in either ASCII or ANSI mode.
I wonder if those clueless people are people. Looks more like BOTS to me.
Change to a port higher than ..... 2000 - check the TCP and UDP port numbers list on wpedia for reserved ports.
