It isn't. German courts have ruled Facebook cannot compel Germans
to use real names only when posting messages. Which extends to the
rest of the EU. IOW, Germans must be allowed to sign up under
pseudonyms to comply with privacy law. Google has also done away
with its "real names only" policy, and apologized to users.
