Subj : Problem at your system To : Paul Hayton From : Andrew Leary Date : Sun Jan 22 2023 02:22 am Hello Paul! 22 Jan 23 19:44, you wrote to me: AL>> Looks like someone's system is trying to use a ZoneGate from Z2 AL>> to Z3. Of course, these haven't existed for quite some time... PH> Hi Andrew PH> is this something I need to check on my end? PH> If so where do I need to look? The ZoneGate option is normally selected on the sending system. When it is selected, the destination address in the message header is changed from the actual destination to the ZoneGate system, (origin zone:origin zone/destination zone) with the actual destination remaining in the INTL kludge line. With most connections in FidoNet being made over the internet these days, the ZoneGates were considered unnecessary overhead and thus removed from the nodelist. In this case, I wonder if Ward accidentally selected the ZoneGate option when replying to your message. Your system apparently saw that the incoming packet was addressed to 2:2/3 and sent it back to Ward based on your routing rules.
