I know it gets a little confusing :)

Once I get a new file in from an author, I can share it with everyone else in 
Fidonet using what we call 'tick technology'..  A tick processor copies the 
file that exists in a directory (along with it's description) and sends to 
other fidonet nodes who have expressed an interest in that particular file 
area.
