I thinking on then too on how I by linux can manage a dos command as
example 'if not then copy else'
if not exist lnxr500.${num} then copy lnxr500.006 to a dir lnxr500.${num} else 
copy lnxr500.${num} to dir\
The script get the julian day and then is it on by checking some segment files 
and copy them to daily segment files, so latest and newest segment is there to 
makenl use the rights segment to the dailylist.
