Subj : SMB style msg areas? To : David Gonzalez From : Paul Quinn Date : Fri Feb 16 2001 03:16 pm Hi! There were a few minor problems, but nothing that couldn't be fixed (a whole lot easier than, say, with Hudson). I'd still be using JAM now except the editor I use can't do JAM; only Squish, *.MSG, QuickBBS, or Hudson. That's no great hassle either as this editor reads my FastEcho config file directly for area definitions. There's probably very little difference, performance-wise, between JAM and Squish in your average BBS setup, though technically JAM is supposed to be more advanced/efficient. With JAM you just run the risk of one out of the four files that make up an echo area going "bad" (due to a disk error, perhaps), as against the chance of one out of three files that make up a Squish echo area going "bad".
