  It /must/ be a config issue.  I just recently (a month ago) setup Fastecho 
again for the first time in 10 years or so, so everything is fresh in my mind.

  Both Fmail and fastecho aren't working... BOth irex and binkd as mailer.... 

  Download new versions of your archivers.  Make sure there is not an old 
broken version of pkunzip laying around, (Or maybe the versions your running 
are new and the commandlines have changed.)

  That's the only common thing I can think of off the top of my head.  Get back 
to us and someone around here will get it solved.
