I have been slowly working on similiar functionality.  I'm working on
different modules that can be added to WCT web pages giving you
the ability to display and perform activities using the Wildcat!
backend system.

Check out http://www.tkdsoftware.com.  A premature version of a
news module appears on that page on the left under the main
banner.
