Subj : Canada Election To : ALL From : Rob Mccart Date : Thu May 01 2025 01:07 am By now probably most people who were talking about it have heard that our Liberal Party under Mark Carney won the election, but didn't get a majority gov't, which means he needs other elected people to back him up to get things passed that he wants to get through, new laws and big decisions and such. He only missed the majority by 3 'seats' which I think is called a Voting College or Electoral District in the USA. Depending on the estimates he got somewhere between 8.3 and 9 million votes, but they mentioned on the news today that if he had gotten just 608 more votes in exactly the right districts, he could have won 3 more seats and gotten that majority. I tend to prefer the Minority situation since it tends to limit the power, and therefore the damage, that the party can do to the country. Trump congatulated Mark Carney today saying he had hoped that he might win since he figured that "Mr. Carney doesn't hate me quite as much as Pierre Poilierve does".. B) Apparently Poilierve didn't even win his own seat where he lives so he's got to find a way to get rid of someone else in his party who won their district so that he can replace them there.. Trump and Carney are supposed to get together at the White House fairly soon. Trump talks like he thinks a lot of Carney, but we'll see how that works out when they meet. One thing maybe going for Carney is that he is well respected by national leaders all around the world after working with them while he was the Governor of the Bank of Canada for 5.5 years and then Governor of the Bank of England for 7 years.. Trump tends to like people he feels are important so maybe that history will help.. --- * SLMR Rob * Should vegetarians eat animal crackers? * Origin: capitolcityonline.net * Telnet/SSH:2022/HTTP (1:2320/105) .
