It all boils down to if you don't have the money to afford it you won't buy it, so of course one thinks with their own wallet. That is part of the reason we are where we are now in the USA. Stuff started to cost a lot more so folks thought with their wallet and didn't re-elect the incumbent ticket. Honestly, though, I really don't agree with your premise. I don't think it had anything to do with savng the *consumer* money... I think it had more to do with making more money for the corporations involved.
