BTXE has been answering the "phone" on my Telnet node for a very long time. I did at one point tinker with mailer sessions over telnet, but always ended up sticking with BinkD (much more widely used, and more efficient also!) As far as a telnet user is concerned, they just have to hit ESC and wait a few seconds for the BBS, just like with the old POTS lines.
