If you want to wallow in mvdv> nostagia over old protocols, do it right. Get yourself a modem mvdv> and a POTS line and do EMSI over POTS. That was what it was mvdv> designed for. EMSI is an extensible session negotiation protocol and is not more or less suited for any particular transport layer. Now, if you want to talk about Zmodem and its efficiency over IP, then that's a different matter. But EMSI has, again, nothing to do with Zmodem. If you're going to be rude to people, at least get your facts straight. And as far as POTS goes, we did FidoNet sessions over packet switching networks a long time ago, and that had nothing to do with POTS. There was a time, when there was something called session fallback, which usually meant FTS-1. Since I haven't gone through the entire stack of FTSC and Policy documents in a while, I'm guessing I will find something to the effect of "We don't need no common ground".
