Subj : Binkd tools (TIC, FREQ's...), gating, and setup

While I am waiting for a reply to my (re)join request to get a proper node 
number... a few questions on set up, or err... fine tuning the setup... things 
seem to be working good... Thank you ALAN!

1) Polling of NC/hub???

 What kind of cron job have others setup/use for this???? Since in my FD days I 
had "metro" service the local calls to my hub/NC were "FREE" so I polled often 
to get echomail, and routed netmail etc...

I thought having something along the lines of

binkd -pP1:135/0 -q /home/me/fido/binkd/binkd.cfg

Was good.. BZZT it just whines about being in use already and doesn't poll, and

binkd -p1:135/0 -q /home/me/fido/binkd/binkd.cfg

Doesn't do a poll if the outbound is empty. :(


2) TIC processing???

I am leaning towards tinyTic as its related to JAMnntpd and crashmail..

I've looked at the setup hints that I think syncrobbs or something has on their 
site with tinytic....

others? Setup?

3) Since Binkd needs to have external help for FREQ's what are others using???? 
Setup?

FD dealt with all that mostly.....some of the stuff I was gating in/out via 
UUCP at the time with GIGO did some things externally...

4) Gating -

Not entirely binkd related... but since I was GUUCP at the time, and I worked 
with Jason Fesler on the betas and releases of GIGO I am curious as to what 
others are doing to gate at minimum netmail < - > email. And had PGH's first 
ISP provided uucp (Telerama, sadly gone in 2008 :(  )

GIGO is dead, Mr. Fesler doesn't seem too interested in getting bothered about 
it.. the KEY gen form is dead on his site...The gigo-l and gigo echo are 
gone....the various posts about GIGO and being asked about it are well, rude.

So what are binkd users using for gating???? I've looked at IREX etc.. and they 
seem to be tied into a lot of things... that may not be my thing... uucp and 
fxuccio seemed to be a lot easier then! :) ;)
