No, actually I installed BBBS here in the /home/bbbs directory. In part to to avoid any ownership issues since everything in BBBS's home directory is owned by the user "bbbs". With BBBS the only time root access might be required is when loading bbbsd so that it can bind to the necessary <1024 ports. And even that can be avoided through port mapping.
