Subj : Tank Maintenance And Water Change To : All From : Jeff Snyder Date : Mon Jan 25 2010 06:03 pm This afternoon I conducted a 16-gallon water change, cleaned the algae from the glass panes, stirred up the sand substrate and dusted off the rocks -- which is actually something that I normally do once or twice a day; that is, dust off the rocks. Yesterday evening I also rinsed out the four sponges that are in the two Penguin 330 Bio-Wheel filters. It has now been five days since Mama Mbuna released her sixth spawn, and I have the strong impression that there are no survivors this time. You may recall that in my previous post, I mentioned that I had only observed one golden yellow fry on the day that the spawn was released. With so many hungry fish in the tank now, it may very well be that the odds of survival are against the fry now, even though these mbuna don't seem to be predisposed to eating their own fry . . . at least that has been my personal observation during the last six spawns.
