They must have an active sex life. I can't help you with the snails but I have found with my 29 gallon that 1 Pleco and 1 Chinese algae eater are a better combo than 2 plecos. I think the plecos consume algae faster than the Chinese algae eater. 2 Pleco combo for me lately has been dying, but the 1 and 1 combo seems to work well.
