I'm hesitantly believing it right now.  I want to see more evidence, but this
matches what we know right now.

They are painting the assassin as a "prepper" now (trying to associate him with
conservatives) because he had a plan for his wife "escape".

What role his wife had is still up in the air.  Accomplice?  Mastermind? 
Innocent and the guy just wanted his wife taken care of?
