Of course.  They can't have people challenging their Narrative.  They might

An astroid hitting the planet is always possible.  Very unlikely, but possible.

What we need to be cautious of are the people who say "give us money and power
and we'll keep you safe" because they will not keep you safe and take even more
money and power.
