Lawyers are like doctors, conducting their practice in residence. >You claimed that U.S. citizens sued each other a lot. This is what I wrote - The US has more lawyers than the rest of the world combined. The US also has more idiots than the rest of the world combined. Put the two together and what do you have? Idiots suing idiots. The perfect combination for lawyers to make a mint. I never mentioned "US citizens". I did mention the US having "more idiots than the rest of the world combined" - which will be difficult to refute given the history of the Darwin Awards. It can be deduced that given a population of 330 million people that US citizens sue each other a lot. Nobody in his/her right mind will dispute that. But lawyers will never limit themselves to US citizens suing US citizens. After all, there is money to be made. Israel has 1 lawyer per 139 people. That makes Israel having the most lawyers per capita. Uruguay comes in second, with 1 lawyer per 140 people. The US is far behind those two heavyweights. I know of no study that compares the number of idiots per capita for each country. So your guess is as good as mine. The best I can do is inform you that the US is the most lititigous country in the world. Not only do idiots sue idiots, but everybody sues everybody. I mean, that is what lawyers are there for. They provide a service for people. What is a citizen? Does it even matter? Idiots sue other idiots. Some are citizens, some are not. I am not even sure idiots realize what the difference is, or if there is a difference. An idiot is an idiot is an idiot. >Do they hire foreign lawyers for that? I knew a lawyer from Pakistan. He was hired by lots of folks not from the US. But he was an idiot, and never quite made it back home ... Lawyers in this country are from all over. Some of them work for large corporations, making more than you or me can ever imagine. Not all lawyers are in private practice, but most do go where the money is. >Do you think there are at least twice as much lawyers working with a green > card than U.S. citizens? Who said anything about a green card? Do realize there is 1 lawyer for every 22 people in Washington DC, but very few who are employed as lawyers. Remember that the next time you hire a taxi driver to take you somewhere in that city. >Or do you think most lawyers are illegal immigrants? Only in California, where one doesn't even have to go to school to become a lawyer. What they do is stock fruits and vegetables for practicing lawyers, making them a resident in training. To become a full-fledged resident one must pass a test, which can be taken as many times as necessary ... >Moreover, that's just three countries on the left hand side of the > inequation. Doesn't matter. 70% of the entire world is a lot of lawyers. >And while I used big ones, that's not even half the population on this > planet. The US is the land of plenty, and can never have an excess of lawyers. --Lee -- I think they bought a Jeep --- MesNews/1.08.05.00-gb * Origin: nntp://rbb.fidonet.fi - Lake Ylo - Finland (2:221/360.0) .
