Covid cases are skyrocketing in Germany. Fun. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * After some experiments, my twtxt client now creates files in a Maildir. Then you can use a tool like mutt to read it. It doesn't have to go through an actual mail server -- it just dumps the files there. I have used this approach in the past for other things and it works really well. Mutt can also do the heavy lifting when it comes to threading: You just have to put an "In-Reply-To" header in the file. And, of course, this integrates seaminglessly with my notification system: It just checks whether there is some "buffy" mailbox, be it POP3 or IMAP or whatever.
