Let's start this experiment: Ditching GNU Bash for a Linux port of OpenBSD's ksh. While we're at it, finally nuke shell history files. I lost these things on many occasions and then some important command was lost. This sucks. (Addendum: Switching the shell was almost trivial. Guess I didn't use any fancy Bash features in the first place.) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Got two weeks of vacation coming up. I want to do some Linux/UNIX stuff again, because I haven't done that for almost a year now. My RSI problems are not gone, but largely manageable. I want to deep-dive into the booting process, initramfs, init systems, all that. Of course, I already have a good grasp of what's going on, but I never built my own initramfs from scratch and never wrote a simple init system. Maybe even have a look at udev replacements. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Just realized that my system monitor, [infofeld2], does not even have a graph to show hard disk activity. Goes to show how little that matters in this day and age. [infofeld2]: https://uninformativ.de/git/infofeld2
