2025-09-09 - Slide rule

Yeah, time is fast blah... last update was 5 months ago. Wow, etc. 
Anyway; Last weekend i found a cool slide rule in the second hand 
shop for the appealing sum of 2,5 euros. And since i always wanted 
to play around with a slide rule... i couldnt resist to purchase 
it. It is a SUN HEMMI P280 slide rule, and it's in great shape. 
Actually i'd say it is almost brand new.

Although i know how to do basic operations (and i am quite slow 
with that), the next goal is to get more familiar with the slide 
rule; So i'll have to look for (ideally) a paper (2nd hand) book on 
sliderules or perhaps an online manual.

I was having fun in the 2nd hand store, because it took me longer 
than necessary to figure out how to flip the indicator around (as 
it was mounted the wrong way around initially). But in the end the 
operation was simple; Remove the slide, then squeeze the stocks in 
the middle, and then you can remove the indicator; Flip it, and put 
it on again. People that worked with these things will now be 
facepalming themselves, but hey; i was kinda happy i figured this 
out on my own. :P

Anyway; 
Slide rules; They are very cool, and make me look like a fool.
