I bought a steam deck I did something impulsive (by my standards) today: I bought a steam deck after only considering it for 3 hours! I got the LCD version because the OLED was almost twice the cost for only slightly better hardware. Plus, the LCD version was less than the cost of my laptop despite being more powerful than any computer I've ever owned by a truly ridiculous amount. Most of my video game library has been in a state of "I'll play this when I own a computer that can handle it" for... probably at least 5 years, maybe even longer. By next week, I'll finally own a device that can play them all! I'm also very excited about handheld gaming, but from what I've read, I do expect to have it plugged in most of the time. I'll probably upgrade the SSD at some point, but to be honest I think 256GB is fine to get started because I'm going to try to only play a couple of games at a time. I'll probably be less active online as I go through my entire library :3 I can finally play all the games that I've been waiting for years to play: Hitman, Batman, Spider-Man... lots of games about weird men! Jokes aside though I've actually spent the last 20 minutes going through my games and going "omg I can play this, omg I can play this, omg I can-" I'm particularly excited for American Truck Simulator (which actually can run on my laptop, but crashes frequently), Deep Rock Galatic, Hitman (rebootman), and DOOM 2016 + Eternal. That said... there's a good chance that I just keep playing DOOM like I do on my laptop lmao tags: steam-deck, video-games, gaming
