GROTESQUE MONSTROSITY WITH DIAMOND-DRILL FOCUS STUDIES FOR 4 UNBROKEN HOURS Today I joked that [I would listen to productivity gurus if they spoke about themselves the way powerlifters do](gemini://station.martinrue.com/mathpunk/131f1f726eb5440881e1b2fd397d45b1), and while I don't think of myself as a "productivity guru," getting things done is definitely something I think about and talk about often (for reasons that are too much to get into in this post). It hit me that it would be pretty funny if I started doing exactly that. In extremely related news, I broke a record of mine today. I usually track my time spent studying each day, as well as the amount of notes I create. I write my notes by hand on 4x6 index cards, so "one note" is a fairly decent measure of output, though it can be anywhere from one paragraph to one sentence, or just a diagram etc. My previous record was 4 hours, 34 notes. My current record is 4 hours 20 minutes, 45 notes. Note that I'm not particularly interested in notes/time at the moment, just the highest recorded amount of both. They say Luhmann averaged about 6 notes/day during his career. That would make today's productivty "7.5 Luhmanns." This entire paragraph is not to be taken seriously. I am pretty proud of myself though. There was a time when even 20 minutes was too much for my back and shoulders to handle. I've come a long way. Keep takin' 'er easy.
