MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Blackberry & Apple Seasonal Scones Categories: Breads, Fruits, Dairy Yield: 2 servings 350 g Flour 85 g Butter 175 ml Milk 1 ts Vanilla essence 3 tb Sugar 1 ts Baking powder 1/4 ts Salt 1 ts Lemon juice 1 Apple; diced in small cubes 5 tb Blackberries Extra flour to dust MMMMM--------------------------TO SERVE------------------------------- Creme fraiche 1 ts Rose petals (opt) Lots of blackberries! Line a baking tray and set oven @ 210°C/410°F. Warm the milk gently and add the lemon juice and vanilla. It will curdle a little. Allow it to sit and cool until you are ready to use. Sieve the flour into a mixing bowl and add salt and baking powder. Chop the butter into the bowl and rub gently until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add sugar and chopped apple. Add the milk and combine wet and dry ingredients with a pallet knife. Slowly stir through as many blackberries as the dough will take (a few tablespoons depending on size of berries. With a light tough, bring together mixture into a dough with hands, press to flatten on a floured surface and cut rounds with a scone cutter. Place on baking tray, brush the tops with milk and bake for 15-20 minutes, until browned. Halve each scone and eat with lots of blackberries, optional jam and butter and/or creme fraiche or cream and a nice cup of tea!
