* Exported from MasterCook * Old Time Beef Stew Recipe By : Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Stews Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 tb Oil Flour Garlic powder Paprika 2 lb Stew beef 1 Onion -- quartered 1 cl Garlic 4 c Water -- boiling 1 ts Salt 1 tb Lemon juice 1 ts Sugar 1 ts Worcestershire sauce 1/2 ts Pepper 1/2 ts Paprika 1 Bay leaves 1 ds Allspice or cloves 6 Carrots -- cut in pieces 6 md White potatoes -- cut in pieces 1/2 c Water -- cold 1/4 c Flour Put flour, paprika, and garlic powder in a plastic bag. Coat stew beef in flour mixture and brown in hot oil in a large Dutch oven. After all meat is browned, add the remaining ingredients except for 1/2 cup cold water and 1/4 cup flour. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 2 to 3 hours. When all vegetables are cooked, thicken with 1/2 cup cold water mixed with 1/4 cup flour. Crockpot Directions: Brown flour coated meat.
