                         TWO STEP CHERRY PUDDING

   1      tablespoon    lard
     3/4  cup           sugar
     1/2  cup           sifted flour
   3      teaspoons     baking powder
     1/4  teaspoon      salt
     1/2  cup           milk
   1 1/2  cups          sour cherries -- pitted
   1      tablespoon    butter
     1/2  cup           sugar
     1/2  cup           cherry juice
     3/4  cup           water

Cream lard and sugar.  add flour, baking powder salt to with milk.  Spread
batter in 8x8 baking dish.  Combine remaining ingredients.  Pour over batter
mixture.  Bake 400 for 30-35 minutes.
