Farrell Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Cordials & Liqueurs First Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 Fifth 190-Proof Grain Alcohol 1 Orange, Preferably Organically Grown Sugar Syrup Or Honey, 16-20 Oz 1 Fifth Distilled Water Pour the bottle of gain alcohol into a wide mouth gallon glass jar. Make a cradle for the orange with a 3 yard long piece of string - firmly tie several loops around the orange so that it can be suspended above the alcohol without actually touching the fluid. Let the string hang over the edge and close the lid tightly so that the string is held in place and the alcohol cannot evaporate from the jar. Let the jar sit in a warm but not hot place for six weeks. Although the orange does not touch the fluid, the volatile aromatic oils in the orange will blend nicely with the alcohol during the steeping period. After six weeks, the orang will look shriveled and yukky. Open the jar and throw away the orange. Add 16 oz of sugar syrup or honey to the bottle of distilled water and mix thoroughly. Combine the water-sweet mixture with the alcohol-orange mix. You may add up to 4 more oz of sweetener depending on your taste. If using honey, let the liqueur sit for 2 weeks and then siphon off the clear liquid. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
