   2      oz            Jar instant coffee
   1      pt            Brandy
   4      c             Sugar
   1                    Whole vanilla bean
   2      c             Water -- boiling
   1      pt            Vodka

Combine coffee, sugar, and water in saucepan, heat and stir until all
is dissolved. Do not bring to a boil. Cool, half vanilla bean by
cutting on the slant lengthwise. Mix all ingredients in a 1/2 gallon
container. It doesn't call for it, but we always used a glass one
left over from apple cider. Store in a dark place for a month. Pour
into decanters or small glass cocktail bottles, start now for
Christmas presents.
