* Exported from MasterCook * Bacon-Cream Cheese Pinwheels Recipe By : The Big Beautiful Book of Hors d'Oeuvres by Julia Weinberg Serving Size : 36 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Appetizers Hors d'Oeuvres Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 cup butter -- softened 1/4 cup favorite barbecue sauce 1 8 oz pkg cream cheese -- softened 1/2 cup cooked bacon (8-10 strips) -- finely chopped 3 slices pullman loaf white or egg bread* -- cut 1/2" thick *A pullman loaf is a whole, unsliced loaf of bread. Slice horizontally to obtain long, rectangular slices. Combine softened butter with barbecue sauce and whip in a blender; set aside. Blend thoroughly cream cheese and bacon. Trim the crusts from the bread. Flatten slightly with a rolling pin. Spread a thin, even layer of the butter mixture on the bread slices. Next spread approximately 1 cup of the cream cheese-bacon mixture on the bread. Cut the bread slices in half crosswise. Roll the bread gently, jellyroll fashion. Wrap the rolls in foil and freeze for a minimum of 2 hours. Cut the rolls into 1/2-inch-wide slices. Thaw, arrange on a platter and serve chilled. Makes 36.
