* Exported from MasterCook * Chinese Beef Recipe By : Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Oranges Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 Lb. beef for stew 2 Tbsp. oil 1/2 Tsp. salt 1/2 Tsp. ginger 1 Medium onion -- chopped 1 1/2 C. water (cold) 3 Tbsp. soy sauce 2 Tbsp. cornstarch 2 C. sliced celery 1 Large Can sliced mushrooms 1 Small green pepper (strips) 1 water chestnuts -- (8 oz.) sliced 1 Can Mandarin -- (16 oz.) oranges -- drained (save) In large frypan heat oil; brown meat and drain. Sprinkle salt and ginger over meat; add onion, 1 cup water and soy sauce. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover tightly and cook slowly 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Blend remaining water and cornstarch; stir into meat. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Stir in remaining ingredients except for Mandarin oranges. Continue cooking 5 to 7 minutes for crunchy veggies or longer until veggies are cooked to your liking. Fold in oranges. Serve with chow mein noodles or rice.
