* Exported from MasterCook * Knockwurst in beer/wine with Kraut Recipe By : Serving Size : 3 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Crockpot Main dish Casseroles Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 6 knackwurst 3 cups sauerkraut -- rinse/drain 1 apple -- peel/chop 1 teaspoon caraway seed 1 teaspoon sugar 1 cup beer -- OR 1 cup white wine -- instead of beer Combine all ingredients. Cover tightly in a large skillet. Simmer over low heat 15-20 minutes and serve. Can also be prepared in a crockpot, which is done most of the time. Ham hocks can be used/added also. just strip most of the fat off. Serve with mashed potatoes. In crockpot it's about 6 hrs cooking, but much better. From the cookbook Ask your neighbor.
