MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05 Title: Corned beef and cabbage/ crockpot method Categories: Testing, Crockpot Yield: 4 Servings MMMMM----------------O'DONNELS CORNED BEEF REALLY--------------------- Good - bought at Giant Foods MMMMM----------------------------MEAT--------------------------------- 4 lb Corned beef brisket ADD SPICE PACKET & MMMMM-----------------HOME MADE PACKET OF SPICES---------------------- Tie the following in cheese Cloth bag/tie with string 1 ts Whole cloves 1 ts Oregano 1 ts Basil 1 ts Black mustard seeds 1 ts Yellow mustard seeds 1 ea Bay leaf 1 ts Black peppercorns MMMMM-------------------------VEGETABLES------------------------------ 6 ea Med red potatoes 6 md Carrots, peeled 1 sm Head of cabbage, quartered 4 c Water Using 6 quart crockpot. Place potatoes, peeled carrots in bottom of crockpot. Cut brisket into two pieces, place on top of the vegetables. Combine spice package that came with meat and home made spice packet in cheesecloth big enough to tie all spices tightly shut with string. Place cheesecloth bag into crockpot liquid. Turn crockpot on high Cook on HI for 6 to 7 hours. (Potatoes/carrots were done in 5 hours - I removed them from crockpot. Brisket was fork tender at 5 hours. Took vegetables out, cut cabbage into quarters, placed in bottom of crockpot and placed brisket on top of cabbage to hold the cabbage down. Cooked another 2 hours. Experiment in future with length of time for everything. Variation of recipe on package of corned beef brisket. MMMMM
