* Exported from MasterCook II * Scalloped Potatoes and Ham Recipe By : Betty Crocker Serving Size : 3 Preparation Time :2:00 Categories : Easy Main Dish Meat Pork And Ham Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 pound ham steak 1 pound potatoes -- sliced 2 tablespoons flour 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1 1/2 cups milk 2 tablespoons chopped onions 1 teaspoon butter or margarine Swiss cheese -- grated -- optional Heat 2 tablestoons butter in saucepan over low heat until melted. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly; remove from heat. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute (I do cream sauces in the microwave instead of using this method). Layer half of the potatoes, half of the ham, all of the onion, and half of the sauce in greased casserole. Top with remaining potatoes, ham and sauce. Dot with margerine. Cover and cook in 350 degree oven 30 minutes; uncover and cook 35 minutes. (I find sometimes longer cooking time necessary) Top with grated Swiss if desired - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
