* Exported from MasterCook * Julie Smith's French Toast Strata Recipe By : Julie Smith Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Eggs Breads Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 lb French bread loaf 8 oz Cream cheese -- cubed 8 Eggs 2 1/2 c Milk, light cream, or - half and half 6 tb Butter -- melted 1/4 c Maple syrup Preparation time: 15 minutes Baking time: 35 to 40 minutes Cut French bread in cubes. Place half of bread cubes in bottom of a greased 3 qt casserole dish. Sprinkle cubed cream cheese on bread. Add remaining bread cubes. In a large bowl, beat until well blended the eggs, milk, melted butter and maple syrup. Pour mixture over bread cubes and press down with a spatula. Cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 2 to 24 hours. Remove wrap and bake at 325 F for 35 to 40 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with hot butter syrup.
