Aunt Thelma's Christmas Cranberry Salad

Mix, stir to dissolve jello and cool till begins to congeal:
1 small pkg. red jello and  1 c. boiling water
OR
1 lrg. pkg red jello, 1 c. boiling water, and 1 c. cold water after jello is
dissolved.

Grind or process in Cuisinart:
1 lb. whole cranberries, washed and drained
4 or 5 apples, washed and seeded but not peeled
1 orange
1 c. nut meats (optional)

Add 2 c. sugar to this fruit mixture quickly so as not to form syrup.  Add
to jello.
Chill and serve in a large bowl.  Garnish with greens, mint or whipped cream
if desired.
