* Exported from MasterCook II * Mrs. Howard's Baked Cabbage Recipe By : Annetta Howard Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:35 Categories : Casseroles Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 tb Butter 2 tb Flour 1 1/2 c Milk 4 c Cabbage -- coarsely chopped, - up to 5 c 1 1/2 ts Salt 1/4 lb Longhorn cheese -- grated 1/4 lb Processed American cheese -- - grated 1/2 c Corn flakes Salt and cook the cabbage with very little water until tender. Drain well. Grease a baking dish. Alternate a layer of cabbage, a layer of grated cheese (a mixture of longhorn and processed), and then a layer of white sauce. Top with a layer of cheese and sprinkle with corn flake crumbs. Bake at 350 F until the ingredients are heated through and the cheese is golden brown. Yield: 6 Servings Make medium white sauce by melting butter over low heat, adding flour, and cooking a few minutes. Add milk and stir constantly until thickened, about 10 minutes.
