* Exported from MasterCook * Bowl-'Em-Over Salad Recipe By : Betty Crocker's Merry Makings Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Fish & Seafood Salads Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1/2 c Water 1/4 c Butter 1/2 c Flour 1/8 ts Salt 1/2 ts Caraway seed -- up to 1 ts 2 Eggs Crab Meat Salad: 1 c Crab Meat -- chopped 1 c Celery -- diced 1 c Lettuce hearts -- cut in small - pieces 1 ts Lemon juice 1 ts Onion -- finely minced Salt -- to taste Paprika -- to taste Mayonnaise Tomato wedges Lemon wedges Egg -- hard-boiled, sliced Ripe olives Heat oven to 400 F. Heat water and butter to boil in saucepan. Stir in flour, salt, and caraway seeds at once. Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture leaves sides of pan and forms a ball, about 1 minute. Remove from heat. Cool. slightly about 10 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth and velvety after each addition. Spread batter evenly in bottom of greased glass 9" pie pan. (Have batter touching sides of pan, but do not spread up sides.) Bake 45 to 50 minutes. Cool slowly away from drafts. (The puff will form a bowl--high on sides and flat in center. Fill with crab meat salad. Crab Meat Salad: Mix lightly crab meat, celery, lettuce hearts, lemon juice, onion, salt, and paprika. Chill. Just before serving, toss with mayonnaise to moisten. Heap in salad bowl. Garnish with tomatos, lemons, eggs, and olives. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
