* Exported from MasterCook * Lazy Day Or Refrigerator Pickles Recipe By : Lisa Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Cucumber Pickles Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 6 cups sliced cucumbers -- peeled or not 1 cup sliced onions 1 cup vinegar -- (5% on label) 1/2 cup water 1 1/4 cups sugar 1 teaspoon pickling salt 1 teaspoon celery seed 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed 2 cloves garlic -- crushed In a large bowl, combine cucumbers and onions. Mix well. In a large saucepan, combine all remaining ingredients except garlic. Bring to a boil. Stir to dissolve sugar. Pour hot vinegar mixture over cucumber mixture and mix well. Place one garlic clove in each hot, sterilized quart jar or half a clove in a pint jar. Immediately fill jars with cucumbers and seal. Refrigerate 24 hours to meld flavors. You can also prepare this in a crock and cover well to store in refrigerator. Unlike most pickles, these are ready in 24 hours.
