Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 1. Introduction SSBINTRO \_______________________________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl is the latest installment in the popular Nintendo fighting franchise. This series takes the iconic heroes and villains of the various Nintendo franchises and has them fight it out to see who will come out on top. New to the series are the Challenges, which is a 4x32 grid of glass blocks that unlock various rewards as you make your way through the various things you can do in the game. This guide will list the challenges, the rewards for completing the challenges, and an in depth look as to how to complete the challenges. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 1a. Version History SSBINVER \_______________________________________________ Version 1.0 (03/14/08): All challenges and rewards listed, some in depth strategies also listed. Version 1.1 (03/19/08): Added some Event strategies, mainly for the Hard difficulty only Events, also made some corrections and added some hints that were given to me by e-mailers. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 2. List of Challenges SSBCLIST \_______________________________________________ Below is the list of all the challenges in the game. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 3. In Depth Look at Challenges SSBDEPTH \_______________________________________________ Simply knowing what to do sometimes isn't enough. Skill and determination are also required to unlock some challenges. This section will take a look at each group of challenges and break them down, hopefully providing an easier way to look at things and some tips on how to complete the challenges. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 3a. Classic Mode Challenges SSBIDCLA \_______________________________________________ B11: Clear Classic on Easy difficulty. - Running Chibi-Robo (Chibi-Robo) Sticker B12: Clear Classic on Normal difficulty. - Icicle Mountain (Melee) Music B10: Clear Classic on Hard difficulty. - Credits (Super Smash Bros.) Music C16: Clear Classic on Very Hard difficulty. - Striker Mario Trophy D02: Clear Classic on Intense difficulty. - Crazy Hand Trophy A31: Clear Classic with 20 characters. - Master Hand Trophy B02: Clear Classic with all characters. - Paper Mario Trophy A26: Collect trophies for all characters. - Creeping Chrysanthemum Trophy Classic Mode is where you fight through 12 stages, facing off against various enemies and challenges, with the last stage being a battle against Master Hand (and maybe even Crazy Hand). You can use as many continues as you want (or can afford) when clearing Classic on the difficulties. As for clearing Classic with characters, this can be done on any difficulty. To get all the character trophies, not only do you need to complete Classic with all characters, but you also must complete it with all the alter egos of the characters as well (meaning, you must complete Classic with all three Pokemon of Pokemon Trainer, with Sheik and Zelda, and with regular Samus and Zero Suit Samus). ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 3b. All-Star Mode Challenges SSBIDALL \_______________________________________________ C09: Clear All-Star on Easy difficulty. - Tal Tal Heights Music B17: Clear All-Star on Normal difficulty. - Phyllis (Animal Crossing: WW) Sticker D24: Clear All-Star on Hard difficulty. - Birdo Trophy A16: Clear All-Star on Very Hard difficulty. - Dyna Blade Trophy C25: Clear All-Star on Intense difficulty. - Mewtwo Trophy A12: Clear All-Star with no continues. - Pichu Trophy A07: Clear All-Star with 10 characters. - Gekko Trophy D07: Clear All-Star with all characteres. - Kyle Hyde Trophy D15: Collect Final Smash trophies for all characters. - Plusle and Minun Trophy All-Star Mode is unlocked when you have unlocked every character in the game. On All-Star Mode, you will have to defeat every character. Some characters, when they belong to the same game series, will be grouped up, meaning you will have to fight two on one battles. You do not heal after a battle ends. Instead, you have three Heart Containers that you can use to restore your life completely with. Use these Heart Containers wisely. You can use continues when completing a difficulty challenge and it doesn't matter what difficulty level you are on when you are completing the character challenges. Oh, and you receive a Final Smash trophy for a character when you beat their All-Star mode, so you simply have to beat everyone's All-Star mode to get all the Final Smash trophies. Remember to complete All-Star mode with Zero Suit Samus and Sheik along with regular Samus and Zelda to get their Final Smash trophies as well. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. The Subspace Emissary Challenges SSBIDSSE \_______________________________________________ B14: Have Ness join you in The Subspace Emissary. - Franklin Badge Trophy B15: Have Ike join you in The Subspace Emissary. - Ike's Theme Music B30: Have Captain Falcon join you in The Subspace Emissary. - F-Zero Masterpiece C17: Clear The Subspace Emissary. - Ancient Minister Trophy There are not many challenges for The Subspace Emissary. The big one is completing the whole thing, which will take a little bit of time, but you should complete this anyways if you want to complete other challenges. If you go through The Subspace Emissary normally, you will have Ness, Ike, and Captain Falcon join you along the way during the story. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Group Brawl Challenges SSBIDGRO \_______________________________________________ B03: Use Luigi 3 times in brawls. - Luigi's Mansion Stage B21: Get 5 standard brawl victories with Peach. - Super Mario Bros. 2 Masterpiece A05: Use Captain Falcon 10 times in brawls. - Big Blue (Melee) Stage A14: Use Toon Link 10 times in brawls. - Zelda: Ocarina of Time Masterpiece C12: Use Kirby 20 times in brawls. - Green Greens (Melee) Stage D04: Use Donkey Kong 20 times in brawls. - 75 m Stage D05: Brawl on the Yoshi's Island Melee stage 3 times. - Super Mario World Masterpiece A08: Brawl on the Green Hill Zone stage 10 times. - HIS WORLD (Instrumental) Music A29: Brawl on the Port Town Aero Dive stage 10 times. - Dream Chaser Music B05: Brawl on the Frigate Orpheon stage 10 times. - Multiplayer (Metroid Prime 2) Music B13: Brawl on the Pokemon Stadium 2 stage 10 times. - Pokemon Stadium (Melee) stage C13: Brawl on the Norfair stage 10 times. - Ending (Metroid) Music C20: Brawl on the Mushroomy Kingdom stage 10 times. - Underwater Theme (Super Mario Bros.) First, focus on the brawling with a certain character, the coin matches, and brawling on the stages. Set the coin matches to quick, one minute matches so that you can get a bunch of matches in quickly. This should get through all of your coin requirements and your character requirements in a hurry. For the KOs, you can set the damage ratio to 2.0 and continue to brawl on the rest of the stages you need. This will make people die quickly and allow you to rack up the kills. For the time requirements, there's only one solution for that: time. There's no way to quickly get through 100 hours of brawl, unless you leave your game playing over night a few nights. Invite a couple friends over and just play. You'll get there eventually. Oh, and for the 30, 50, and 100 hours of Brawl, it is Total VS. Time, not Total Play Time. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 3e. Target Smash Challenges SSBIDTAR \_______________________________________________ B20: Clear Target Smash level 1. - Apples Trophy A02: Clear Target Smash level 1 in under 15 seconds. - Palutena's Bow Trophy C18: Clear Target Smash level 1 with 10 characters. - Stafy Trophy C19: Clear Target Smash level 1 with all characters. - Super Scope Trophy C05: Clear Target Smash level 2. - Peanut Popgun Trophy D03: Clear Target Smash level 2 in under 19 seconds. - Excite Truck Music C06: Clear Target Smash level 2 with 10 characters. - Pellets Trophy C11: Clear Target Smash level 2 with all characters. - Blast Box Trophy D09: Clear Target Smash level 3. - Wario Bike Trophy A23: Clear Target Smash level 3 in under 20 seconds. - Ray MK III Trophy C15: Clear Target Smash level 3 with 10 characters. - Ashnard Trophy B25: Clear Target Smash level 3 with all characters. - Silver Trophy C27: Clear Target Smash level 4. - Rocketbarrel Pack Trophy A03: Clear Target Smash level 4 in under 32 seconds. - Cardboard Box Trophy A15: Clear Target Smash level 4 with 10 characters - Musketeer Daltania Trophy D17: Clear Target Smash level 4 with all characters. - King K. Rool Trophy A27: Clear Target Smash level 5. - Title (3D Hot Rally) Music D08: Clear Target Smash level 5 in under 30 seconds. - Combo Cannon Trophy B08: Clear Target Smash level 5 with 10 characters. - Outset Link Trophy D25: Clear Target Smash level 5 with all characters. - Grey Fox Trophy Target Smash Challenges are mostly time consuming rather than hard. Since for most of these, you do not have to complete them within a certain time frame, you can do these at your leisure. I would suggest completing two of the levels with all of the characters while you are going through and completing Classic Mode with all characters. Since what you do while you are in Classic Mode's Target Smash carries over into the Stadium's Target Smash, it only makes sense. For the timed ones, these times are not easy to hit. I have provided some quick strategies for each one in order to help people accomplish these (special thanks to John M. for fixing my directional mistakes, I always get my right and left mixed up for some reason). -------------- Target Smash 1 -------------- Goal: 15 seconds Suggested Character: Fox Method: Shoot the target that's behind the wall, then quickly run right and clear out the next three targets. Run left and jump, shooting the target that's right below the bridge. Clear out the four targets that are in this area and quickly run right again. Hit the final target. If you do this quick enough, this should get you around 13 seconds. -------------- Target Smash 2 -------------- Goal: 19 seconds Suggested Character: Captain Falcon Method: Hit the target that's right above you and then make your way up to the target that's right below the Fan. Hit that target and jump over to the Smart Bomb. Throw it upwards so that it will take out the two targets above you. Run over to the target that's right of the Rolling Crate and hit it while in mid air, making sure to land on the platform with the Rolling Crate. Grab the Rolling Crate and throw it to the left. It will roll down and hit the two targets below you. Now, jump up and get the last three targets. You should be able to do this in 17 seconds. -------------- Target Smash 3 -------------- Goal: 20 seconds Suggested Character: Sonic Method: The stage is huge and the targets are spread out. Luckily, you can take advantage of Sonic's Up+B recovery to help get rid of some targets. When the stage starts, run over to the launcher and get sent to the other side of the stage. Right before you land, air dodge. This way, you will land on your feet and save time. Grab the Smart Bomb, drop down, and throw it right, making sure you hit the two targets there. Take out the three targets along the left hand wall and land on the conveyer belts. Now, roll off the first conveyer belt onto the second belt, but don't roll off this one. Instead, jump off, do a second jump towards the wall that has a target above and below it and perform your Up+B right against the wall. This way, you will launch yourself up to the upper target, allowing you to take it out, while the spring falls down and takes out the target below. Now, fall from this area to the moving platform above the spikes. Take out the target in this area and then jump over to the mid air spring. Don't jump on the spring just yet. Instead, do another Up+B right next to the spring. This will take out the bottom target. Land on the spring and leap up to the final target. If you do all of this quick and relatively mistake free, it will be 19 seconds. -------------- Target Smash 4 -------------- Goal: 32 seconds Suggested Character: Marth Method: The tricky part of this stage is the planning. Since the targets are moving, you want the target to be there when you reach that point. Start off by running right and double jump to the first moving target at the upper right, destroying it. Quickly run back left and double jump to hit the stationary target. Slide down and the target at the left that moves up and down should be up high enough to where you can hit it. Quickly head back to the right. The target that moves in a big circle should be in this area now. Quickly hit it and then drop down a level. Make your way right, hit the stationary target, then head left. Drop down another level and the target that moves right and left into the ice wall should be close enough to where you can hit it through the wall. Head right and hit the target that's moving right and left, then drop down, hitting the other target that moves in a circle. Finally, slide down to the lowest target and use Marth's Up+B to hit it, recovering onto the left ice platform at the same time. Run left, double jump off the platform, and Up+B the final target. This should take 29 seconds. -------------- Target Smash 5 -------------- Goal: 30 seconds Suggested Character: Sonic Method: Any character with a decent recovery move that allows you to still attack after using the move and decent speed should be able to get this stage done with this method. Start off by destroying the target directly above you. Land and then hop off the left side of the platform you started on, destroying the two targets on your way down. Recover onto the lower platform, avoiding the spikes. Jump up and hit the target that's below where you started. Jump across the moving platforms and jump up onto the lower of the two small slanted columns. Jump up and hit the target that's above you, then jump down and hit the target that's in between the two columns. Land on the ledge that has the beam sword and grab it. Triple jump to the upper target and hit it, also hitting the target that's on the other side of the wall on your way down. Finally, throw the beam sword straight across to the last two targets. It will hit one target, bounce off of it, and drop down and hit the second one. This can be done easily in 25 seconds, so there's some room for error. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 3f. Home-Run Contest Challenges SSBIDHRC \_______________________________________________ C10: Use every character in Home-Run Contest. - Sandbag Trophy B04: Hit 900 ft. in Home-Run Contest. - Boo (Mario Tennis) Sticker A04: Hit 1,200 ft. in Home-Run Contest. - Clu Clu Land Music B27: Hit 1,500 ft. in Home-Run Contest. - Home-Run Bat Trophy D19: Hit 15,000 ft. combined with all fighters' Home-Run Contest records. - Bumper Trophy B24: Hit 24,000 ft. combined with all fighters' Home-Run Contest records. - Xananab Trophy D22: Hit 30,000 ft. combined with all figheters' Home-Run Contest records. - Shy Guy Trophy D31: Hit 37,500 ft. combined with all fighters' Home-Run Contest records. - Ai no Uta (French Version) Music A32: Hit 45,000 ft. combined with all fighters' Home-Run Contest records. - Golden Hammer Trophy The Home-Run Contest Challenges are not to difficult to complete. There are 35 characters. If you want to reach the highest combined mark, which is 45,000 ft., you will need to hit 1285.7 ft. per character. This is not very difficult considering the fact that they have now put a barrier around the Sandbag. The barrier isn't unbreakable, but it will allow you to rack up the damage on the Sandbag. You should be able to get over 1,000 ft. with each person easy. If you are having problems with the 1,500 ft. with one person, use someone who can rack up the damage quickly on the Sandbag, like Gannondorf or the Ice Climbers. There's also a replay video that comes with the game that shows Lucas beating up the Sandbag for a 2300 ft. hit (special thanks to Ryan G. for correcting that error). Both Mauro B. and Ryan G. suggested throwing the bat at the Sandbag to increase damage, which as shown from the video, can do some major damage. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 3g. Multi-Man Brawl Challenges SSBIDMMB \_______________________________________________ C21: Clear 100-Man Brawl. - Pitfall Trophy C02: Clear 100-Man Brawl with all characters. - Blue Alloy Trophy A06: Clear 100-Man Brawl in under 3 minutes, 30 seconds. - Ryuta Ippongi (Ouendan 2) Sticker A25: Clear 100-Man Brawl in under 4 minutes. - Multi-Man Melee 1 (Melee) Music A22: Endure a 15-Minute Brawl. - Green Alloy Trophy B31: Defeat 50 enemies in Endless Brawl. - Mach Rider (Melee) Music A30: Defeat 100 enemies in Endless Brawl. - Yellow Alloy Trophy A18: Defeat 5 enemies in Cruel Brawl. - Red Alloy Trophy D16: Defeat 10 enemies in Cruel Brawl. - Liquid Snake (MGS: The Twin Snakes) Sticker The Multi-Man Brawls are not that hard this time around. Cruel Brawl is a little bit harder, but even then, there's a way around that. For the 100-Man Brawls, use Pikachu's Down+B to clear it quickly. For the Endless Brawls, Pikachu's Down+B also works. For the 15-Minute Brawl and the Cruel Brawls, use Jigglypuff for this. For the 15-Minute Brawl, simply continuously float under the platform, grabbing the ledge when you reach the other side. Instead of jumping back on the platform, simply drop down by tilting the Control Stick downwards and float under the platform again, grabbing the opposite ledge at the end. Lather, rinse, repeat for 15 minutes. You can float under the platform in three jumps, so there's room for error if you mistime a jump. The enemies will try to attack you, but will miss 99% of the time because they aren't programmed to be smart. Finally, watch out for Bob-ombs, as they like the walk around and hit you. For the Cruel Brawls, simply do the same thing. The enemies, while powerful, don't have a recovery move and don't have the smartest jumping abilities. They will sometimes follow you and try to attack you while you are falling off the ledge, effectively causing them to kill themselves. If you are having problems getting them to jump off the ledge, try to angle your fall just a bit outwards so that they will chase. You should have plenty of jumps to reach the other side. As for the completing the 100-Man Brawl with everyone, this is simply a time consuming effort and finding the best move to spam for 5 minutes. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Boss Battle Challenges SSBIDBOS \_______________________________________________ A10: Clear Boss Battles on Easy difficulty. - Subspace Bomb Trophy C23: Clear Boss Battles on Normal difficulty. - Shadow Bugs Trophy D06: Clear Boss Battles on Hard difficulty. - Dark Cannon Trophy D26: Clear Boss Battles on Very Hard difficulty. - Porky Statue Trophy A01: Clear Boss Battles on Intense difficulty. - Galleom (Tank Form) Trophy B26: Clear Boss Battles with 10 characters. - Subspace Gunship Trophy B16: Clear Boss Battles with 20 characters - Jyk Trophy D32: Clear Boss Battles with all characters. - Tabuu (Winged) Trophy You have to clear out 10 bosses without losing a single life. Sounds like fun. You do not heal after a battle ends, but you do have three Heart Containers that will restore your life completely in between rounds, so if you kill three bosses before consuming a heart, you should be able to face Tabuu with 0% damage. Not like that will do you much good, since Tabuu on Hard on up has attacks that can one hit kill you even if you block them. Dodging and rolling become your best friend in this round of challenges. There is currently a Boss FAQ on GameFAQs that looks to be pretty good. I will be posting strategies for the Boss Battles when I find the time to do so. As for the clearing the Boss Battles with all characters, it doesn't matter what difficulty you do these on. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 3i. Event Challenges SSBIDEVE \_______________________________________________ C29: Clear the "Pink Ball Repulsion" Event. - Halberd Trophy D12: Clear the "Cleaning House in Skyworld" Event. - Palutena Trophy C04: Clear the "Go! Triple Finish!" Event. - Road to Viridian City (From Pallet Town/Pewter City) Music B28: Clear the "Dragoon Strike" Event - The Legendary Air Ride Machine Music B22: Clear the "Sproutage of the Flower Pikmin" Event. - Red Pikmin Trophy A21: Clear "The Hammer of the King" Event. - King Dedede's Theme Music D18: Clear the "Dark Link Duel" Event on Hard difficulty. - Hidden Mountain & Forest Music A11: Clear the "Wario Bros." To unlock events 11-20, you must first complete seven of the first ten events. To unlock the events afterwards, you will need to unlock characters. Once you have unlocked all the characters that are in that set of events, the events will open up. If you don't see an event on your list right away, simply unlock more characters. I have listed the events above based on the order you will see them on the event list. Events can be cleared on any difficulty unless otherwise specified. Here is a list of the events, their victory conditions, and some tips on completion. All strategies given are for Hard mode, which should translate to easier modes. ----------------------------- Event 3: Pink Ball Repulsion ----------------------------- Required Difficulty: Any Player: Meta Knight, 2 Life Enemies: Kirby, 1 Life Stage: Halberd Victory Condition: Defeat Kirby in a regular Brawl before the platform lands on the Halberd, which happens at 1 minute, 24 seconds. Strategies: In other words, you need to defeat Kirby in a minute and 20 seconds. This shouldn't be too terribly hard. Kirby does try to play keep away, but since the stage is small and Meta Knight is pretty quick, you should be able to get many shots in. Meta Knight doesn't have many kill moves, but his Forward Smash should help out in this department. ------------------------------------ Event 4: Cleaning House in Skyworld ------------------------------------ Required Difficulty: Any Player: Pit, 1 Life Enemies: Wario, 3 Lives Stage: Skyworld Victory Condition: Destroy all breakable platforms. There are ten platforms in all. Strategies: Pit's Down Smash is really good at getting rid of multiple platforms at once. When you destroy one platform, if you drop down onto the cloud, you can use any number of Pit's combos to get rid of the platforms from the side. Oh, don't worry about Wario. Simply ignore him and dodge his attacks. He's just there to be annoying. ---------------------------- Event 8: Go! Triple Finish! ---------------------------- Required Difficulty: Any Player: Pikachu, 2 Life Enemies: Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard, 1 Life Each Stage: Pokemon Stadium 2 Victory Condition: Defeat Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard in a regular Brawl. Strategies: You have two lives to work with here. Your first goal is to make this three on one match a two on one. There isn't much room to work with here, so your enemies will surround you very quickly. Pikachu's Forward Smash should be good tool to use to even the odds. Try to use the items to your advantage. Pokeballs will appear quite commonly, so fight Pokemon with Pokemon. ------------------------- Event 13: Dragoon Strike ------------------------- Required Difficulty: Any Player: Kirby, 2 Lives Enemies: Three Warios, 1 Life Each Stage: Halberd Victory Condition: Defeat all three Warios with the Dragoon. Strategies: The Dragoon parts will fall quickly, so grab them in a hurry. The harder the difficulty you play on, the more the Warios will try to beat you up. The Warios won't run directly for the Dragoon parts, but they can pick them up if they are in the middle of fighting with you. If a Wario picks a part up, you'll have to beat it out of him. When you get all three parts, try to aim it so that you defeat at least two Warios, if not all three of them at once. Collecting parts is easier when there is only one Wario on you. ----------------------------------------- Event 14: Sproutage of the Flower Pikmin ----------------------------------------- Required Difficulty: Any Player: Olimar, 1 Life Enemies: Pikachu and Pokemon Trainer, Infinite Lives Stage: Distant Planet Victory Condition: Keep six Pikmin alive long enough so they bloom. Strategies: A Pikmin will bloom a flower on their head after time, so you must play defense until then. You start off with three Pikmin, so quickly pull three more out of the ground right away. After that, try to avoid getting hit or losing Pikmin. Pikmin's greatest enemy is a cliff, so avoid losing them over the edge. It takes about 45 seconds for a Pikmin to bloom, so keep them alive until then. ------------------------- Event 18: Dark Link Duel ------------------------- Required Difficulty: Hard Player: Link, 200 HP Enemies: Link, 200 HP Stage: Bridge of Eldin Victory Condition: Defeat Link in an HP Brawl. Strategies: An HP Brawl is only slightly different than a regular Brawl. The main difference is that you need to worry more about coming out on top of exchanges rather than avoiding certain attacks. If you exchange blows with your opponent, you want to make sure you come out of an exchange dealing more damage. Don't be afraid to exchange hits, just make sure your hits are harder. Remember for both offensive and defensive purposes, both Link's Up Smash and Forward Smash are multiple hit smashes. These can hit the HP pretty hard. As long as you can defense against your opponent's projectiles and come out of blow exchanges dealing more damage rather than receiving more damage, you should come out on top. ---------------------------------- Event 33: Advent of the Evil King ---------------------------------- Required Difficulty: Hard Character: Gannondorf, 2 Lives Enemies: Link, Zelda, and Pit, 1 Life Each Stage: Temple Victory Condition: Defeat Link, Zelda, and Pit in a regular Brawl. Strategies: This may seem difficult, as it is three on one, but your opponents aren't exactly set on very difficult. They are easily separated if you travel around the stage, which can be difficult sometimes with the slow Gannondorf. They do tend to guard less, so this makes it easy to get some damage on them. Pit is there to hit you with small attacks and get your percentage high, while Link and Zelda are the heavy hitters. Avoid getting surrounded, keep moving, and take advantage of the fact that they aren't that bright and with your two lives, you should be able to complete this. --------------------------------- Event 38: The Wolf Hunts the Fox --------------------------------- Required Difficulty: Hard Character: Wolf, 2 Lives Enemies: Fox and Falco, 1 Life Each Stage: Lylat Cruise Victory Condition: Defeat Fox and Falco in a regular Brawl. Strategies: Even though it says hunt down Fox, you must also defeat Falco as well, so don't simply ignore him. In this battle, there will be a lot of shooting items that will appear, from Ray Guns to Super Scopes. Also, Smart Bombs will also appear. Uses these items to even up the score, but remember to look out for your enemies using their Deflector Shields to send your shots right back at you. Also, if your opponent picks up a gun, don't forget Wolf has a Deflector Shield of his own. You'd be surprised how much easier this match can be when you're deflecting their fully charged Super Scope shots right back at them or into their partner instead of eating it. Finally, don't let them surround you. Try to keep both of them in front of you. Fox is quick, so he's more likely to get behind you, but as long as they don't surround you, they shouldn't hit you for too much damage. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Unlocking and Collecting Challenges SSBIDUNL \_______________________________________________ A09: Unlock Toon Link. - Pirate Ship Stage C26: Unlock Sonic. - Green Hill Zone Stage D13: Unlock Mr. Game & Watch. - Flat Zone 2 Stage A17: Unlock all playable characters. - Menu 2 Music B07: Unlock all Melee stages. - Princess Peach's Castle (Melee) Music B23: Unlock 50 hidden songs. - Walky Trophy B01: Unlock 75 hidden songs. - Ballyhoo and Big Top Trophy C32: Collect all songs. - K.K. Slider Trophy A13: Get 200 different stickers. - Pokemon Center Music C14: Get 500 different stickers. - Dr. Eggman Trophy D01: Collect all stickers. - Stickers Trophy B32: Get 500 different trophies. - Baby Peach Trophy A24: Collect all Masterpieces. - Excitebikes Trophy These challenges are completed by obtaining certain characters, stages, songs, stickers, or trophies. For the trophies, you should get plenty of coins by going through all the solo modes to start collecting other trophies with in the Coin Launcher mini game. For the stickers and songs, the best way to get these is by using a CD Factory custom stage. This is a stage where there is two conveyer belts that head into the direction of a block and then a conveyer belt above the block that heads in the opposite direction. This way, no matter what appears on the stage, it will always head towards the block. If you turn all the items off except for Sandbags, you can simply beat up on the Sandbags and they will only drop stickers and CDs. You can find videos of this on YouTube or on the GameFAQs message board to see a visual representation of what I am explaining. This will allow you to get all the songs that are not hidden in the Challenge board. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 3k. Custom Stages Challenges SSBIDCUS \_______________________________________________ Custom Stages Challenges B06: Brawl on custom stages 10 times. - Edit Parts A D28: Create 5 stages in the Stage Builder. - Edit Parts B C03: Make 15 stages in Stage Builder. - Edit Parts C You can build your own Custom Stages in SSB:B. However, certain parts have to be unlocked throughout the game. You can unlock the first set of parts by simply using the game's default stages (or by using the CD Factory to quickly get some songs and stickers right away). The other parts can be unlocked by simply making custom stages. These stages do not have to be fancy and you do not have to keep them, so if you simply want the parts (or the Challenges unlocked), simply make quick stages and delete them. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 3l. Other Challenges SSBIDOTH \_______________________________________________ A28: Get 10 max combos in Training. - Banana Peel Trophy B09: Get 400 combined max combos with all characters in Training. - Ouendan Trophy C08: Exceed 300 ft. combined swim distance for all characters. - Kapp'n Trophy D27: Exceed 30,000 ft. combined walking distance with all characters. - Tails Trophy D21: Exceed 10 hours of powered-on time. - Donkey Kong Masterpiece These are challenges that fall into no other category above (or are too small for their own section). For the combos, simply trap an enemy against the wall and Fire Flower them. It shouldn't be too hard to get a 60 hit combo with that. You would only need 7 characters performing 60 hit combos to get to 400. A couple other people have provided other suggestions for this. Mauro B. suggested that using the Super Spicy Curry against Bowser when he's up against a wall would get more hits than the Fire Flower, which makes sense if you think about it. Also, TheMonkeyBob suggested using Smart Bombs and timing their placement on the battlefield so they go off at different intervals, which also makes sense that it would hit more times than a Fire Flower. I guess I just never liked the new items, but apparently, I need to learn how to use them more. For the swim distance and walking distance, this is only in Group Brawl. This does not include The Subspace Emissary. I would have put it in the Brawl section, but since it doesn't specify in the challenge, I put it here. Use a stage like Pirate Ship or Delfino Plaza to rack up swim time. For the walking distance, this should fall if you simply play. Finally, the power on time should be easy to obtain if you're doing the rest of these challenges. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 4. Golden Hammers SSBGOLDH \_______________________________________________ Golden Hammers can be found in some of the blocks. These hammers can destroy most blocks without having to complete the challenge. Some blocks cannot be destroyed with a Golden Hammer (all of the Boss Battle Challenges seem to be the only ones that cannot be broken with a Golden Hammer, although I'm sure there are others). There are five Golden Hammers on the board total. I have found four of them before starting this FAQ, so I only know of one personally, however, people have sent me information on the others. Also, I've had conflicting reports about the final Golden Hammer location. All the other locations, multiple people have sent me the same information on those, but no one's sent me the same information on the final hammer location, so it's unconfirmed right now. B12: Clear Classic on Normal difficulty. - Icicle Mountain (Melee) Music (thanks MrL_64) C17: Clear The Subspace Emissary. - Ancient Minister Trophy (thanks DEngel) C31: Score 500 total combined KOs in brawls. - Party Ball Trophy (thanks missingLINKINthePark) D20: Play 30 hours of brawls. - Timer Trophy ___________________________ Super Smash Bros. Brawl \ Challenges FAQ \ 5. FAQs SSBFREQU \_______________________________________________ Q: What, in your opinion, should the Golden Hammers be used on? A: Since you can't use them on Boss Battles, I would personally use them on the Challenges that are the most tedious to achieve, such as the completion of a mode with all characters. None of the challenges, other than the Boss Battles, are particularly difficult, since you can use continues on the Intense mode challenges, so the next step would be to get rid of the tedious challenges. ___________________________ Super Smash Bros.
