INTRODUCTION ****************************************************************************** Hi, and welcome to my FAQ/Walkthrough for WayForward Productions' latest WiiWare project, LIT. In this guide, I've provided a walkthrough on how to proceed through the game, as well as general tips on the gameplay and info on the endings and unlockables. Enjoy! ****************************************************************************** 2. FAQ ****************************************************************************** Q: What is LIT? A: LIT is an action/horror/puzzle game designed by developer WayForward Productions. It's pronounced "lit" as in the past tense of "to light". Q: What is the ESRB rating of this game? A: This game is rated E10+ with the content descriptor of "Violence". It's a rather spooky game based around things that hide in the dark. Q: Where can I get this? A: LIT can be downloaded through the Wii Shop Channel service for 700 points. It's classified as WiiWare. Q: Do I need a Nunchuk to play this game? A: Yes, this game requires a Nunchuk. Q: Why didn't you put the bosses in the Walkthrough? A: I did, I just didn't put the rooms in the title, for the purpose of not spoiling them as well as the fact that it just wouldn't look as good. ****************************************************************************** 3. BASICS ****************************************************************************** You can find most of this info in the Operations Guide (ie. "manual") that you can link to at any time from the "Home" Menu. ============== 3A. Controls = ============== Wii Remote - Pointer: Move the crosshair on the screen. This is commonly used with items you're carrying as a target. Motion Sensor: Used with certain items to make them work. More will be explained as each item comes up. A Button: Action. In the top-right corner of the screen is an icon showing what this will do. If you're close to an item in the field that you can interact with, you'll use it, either by activating it or picking it up. If you're not near such an item, you will use the current item in your inventory. B Button: Inventory. Specifically, this will cycle through all the items you carry. Control Pad: Adjusts camera. + Button: Pause Menu. You can choose to continue, restart, or return to the Main Menu. Home Button: Access the Wii Home Menu. Wii Nunchuk - Control Stick: Move Jake in any direction relevant to the screen. Z Button: Places the camera behind Jake. Useful when trying to aim something. ==================== 3B. Menus/Displays = ==================== The Main Menu is basically looking at a blackboard in the dark. Move the Remote's pointer to see various parts of the menu. The right side of the screen are your files. Select any of them to start the file from the last room you completed. Just below the files is the delete function. The upper left corner of the screen allows you to adjust the brightness. This game is supposed to be dark, so don't go too nuts cranking it up. The bottom left corner will allow you to view the credits, and what's with that drawing, hmm? The bottom right corner has a map of the school once you start completing rooms. You can access any room in the game that you've played (or are currently playing) from this map. ============================ 3C. General Gameplay/Hints = ============================ The object of this game is to escape each room. You will being at the entrance at the bottom of the screen, and need to escape via the exit at the top of the screen. The major issue is the fact that all rooms are incredibly dark. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue, except that your school has been infested with some kind of darkness-loving monsters. If you step on any area that's dark, hands will reach up out of the floor and drag you to certain doom. So, the underlying goal of the game is to use light sources to create a lit path to the exit. You will use items and existing light sources in the room to create that path. Each room has its own designed path to the exit, of course, and the puzzle is figuring it out, through ingenuity, timing, and forethought. While specifics will be covered in each walkthrough, one general rule to be adhered to is that of the Light Bar, represented at the top of the screen via a fluorescent light bulb. As you start turning on electric objects, the bar will begin to fill. If you fill too many, you'll blow a fuse and immediately have to start the room over. The Light Bar is classified as having 100 units, and each light source will use up some percentage of those units. As one final note about proceeding, you'll notice several missions have a ringing phone on the wall. This is Jake's connection to his girlfriend, Rachel, who's also trapped in the school. Pick up the phone before it stops ringing to hear her speak (through the Remote's speaker). Make sure you stay in touch with her, as it will affect the aftermath of the game. ****************************************************************************** 4. WALKTHROUGH ****************************************************************************** Each room I'll first provide you with a hint. After that, you'll get the map of the room. Sometimes, just seeing the map can help you plot a path through the room. The only thing I can't give you in the map are the directions of TVs, Computers, and Oscillators. After that, I'll give you a general outline of how to get through the area in a paragraph form. Lastly, I'll give you a step-by-step walkthrough utilizing map coordinates. Pellet - Use the slingshot with Z and fire with A. Can shatter windows and light sources. Window - Shatter to create a straight beam of light. Since you're working with one light source at a time, this is nice and easy. Hit the nearby Lamp, then grab either Pellet in range (you're given a spare in case you miss). Hold Z to assume aiming mode, then switch to the Slingshot and fire at the Window on the north wall, then proceed up the beam to the third Pellet. Only one TV can be turned on at a time. TV - Casts light when turned on with TV Remote. Use the Lamp, grab the Pellet, and break the Window on the north wall. Now, grab the Remote. This will turn on TVs, but only one at a time. Use it once to turn on the TV right near you. Answer the phone. Go around the desk to the left and grab the other Pellet and use it to break the Window on the west wall. Now, walk down the beam to the east, and use the Remote again, which will turn on a TV next to you. Now, move to the very top of the TV's beam and hit the Remote again to turn on another TV close by. Now, the next one requires a bit of forethought, but I'll just tell you that you want the middle Window on the west wall. For each Window you break, you'll have access to another Pellet, so the full order from the beginning is, left window on north wall, middle window on west wall, middle window on north wall, lower window on east wall, right window on north wall (you'll be able to then grab the phone on the east wall), upper window on east wall, and finally, bottom window on west wall. Grab the Remote and use the TV to illuminate the Exit. It's possible to also do this by breaking the top left window second to last and grabbing the last Pellet, but ultimately not necessary. 1. Ms. English Teacher over there is largely content to just stand there and read. She will not react until light touches here. When it does, she'll immediately rush over to the light source and snuff it out in some manner. She needs to be hit with four light sources, not necessarily simultaneously, and not in any particular order, either. To start with, take the Pellet and break the Window on the east wall so you can get another Pellet. Also, turn on the Computer in the southwest corner to light up the others on the east wall, and grab the Remote. Use the second Pellet on the Window on the north wall, giving you access to a third Pellet, which you can use on the lower Window on the west wall. You can use the Lamp to light up the Oscillator nearby, but it's not necessary, as it's quite in range. Also, grab one last Pellet near the Window you just broke. Anyway, the four light sources you can use are as follows: the TV just north of her (turn it on with the Remote), the Oscillator in the middle of the room, the upper Window on the west wall, and once she comes back from smashing either the Window or the Oscillator, she'll also get tagged by the Window on the north wall. That's all the four you need. If you're impatient, you can also hit her with your Flashlight, but make sure that's the last light you hit her with, or else she'll target you and knock you out. 1. Has a blast radius, and can demolish windows and electric light sources. Okay, so after hitting the Lamp, you'll be introduced to your first Cherry Bomb. Aim the cursor at the Window on the north wall, but a bit to the right. Hold down A and flick the Remote to throw the Bomb and bust down the Window. Now, turn on the illuminated Lamp to walk around to the north side. Take the Pellet and break the Window in the upper-right corner. Now, turn on the Lamp to the left and answer the Phone. Also, take the Pellet just Okay, now look carefully at the map and you'll notice eight Lamps. We've now come to the point where the Light Bar is something you have to worry about. All eight of these Lamps have to be lit at some point to exit the room, but not all at once, so turn off the following Lamps: the one in the upper-left corner (make sure you're standing to the right of it), and the one in the lower-left corner (make sure you're standing on the entrance area. Leave the one in the middle. Now, use your Pellet on the last Window. Turn on the Lamp in the corner, then the next Lamp that shows up, then one more. Now, cross to the illuminated area left by the Lamp you left on and turn on one more Lamp just northeast of it. That's five lamps and a full Light Bar, so to turn on the last Lamp near the exit, you need to turn off one Lamp. Either of the two in the southeast corner should do fine, as long as you're not standing in a spot that will be left in darkness. 1. Use Lamp (C1) 2. Take Cherry Bomb (B3) 3. This room introduces you to Motion Sensors. Smash the Window with the Pellet and hit the Lamp. Now, move near the Sensor on the left wall to activate it, allowing you to hit the Computer. Use the Computers on the right side to get to the Pellet. Now, shoot your last Pellet in the general direction of the Motion Sensor in the northeast corner to activate it, and you're clear to the Exit. 1. Take Pellet (B1) 2. One is the Light Bar, of course. The other is that you'll have to backtrack around some areas. Other than that, this is pretty easy. Turn on the nearby Lamp, then grab the Remote off to the left (don't bother with the Lamp there). Go to the right and turn on the Lamp there, then turn on the TV, which gives you a path to the Oscillator. Turn that on you're technically home free, as the light sweeps right from the top of the lamps at the bottom to the Exit. Of course, let's not forget the Phone. Before you do anything else, go southwest past the TV and then turn it off with the Remote. Now, follow the light to the northeast corner and hit the Lamp up there. You'll drop it in front of you for a small light source. Take the Flare and drop it to your north to give you the extra reach to hit the first Lamp. Now, to get the Phone, hit the lamps to your right all the way to the corner. This will be five Lamps lit. Once you answer the Phone, hit the two lamps nearest you, leaving only three: two in the center, and one to the southwest. Turn off the one on the right, and the one in the southwest, which should leave you with just one Lamp. Now, turn on a Lamp to the north, which will allow you access to some Computers. Turn them on, as well as a Lamp that you can reach which is right next to the door. This maxes out the Light Bar, so to make your way back, you'll have to continually turn off the last Lamp, and turn on the next one to make your way around to the Lamp on mid-east section, which borders on the Computer light, and then to the Exit. 1. The way to beat the Janitor is to fill the Light Bar. Get it to maximum, but don't blow the fuse, obviously. Do NOT turn on any Computers, as there are more than ten, and they will blow the fuse in nothing flat. So, the Janitor doesn't actually attack you. All he does is respond to any light turned on (not just light that would shine on him directly). He will rise up next to the light and shut it off (but not break it). He doesn't move particularly fast, though, so the idea is to turn five lights on at once, staying a step ahead of him. There are way more lights here than are necessary to beat the Janitor. It's possible to walk all around the room turning on lights, but really, it's fastest just to stay in a localized area working on a specific five, and turning lights on once he turns them off. So, here we go. Take the Pellet and break the Window on the north wall, then take another and break the Window on the east wall. The horizontal beam illuminates a Lamp off to the left, so turn that on. That's your first light we're using. Next, hit the Oscillator just to the northwest of it. Wait for the Oscillator to sweep right, then hit the Lamp on the table to the southeast, as well as the Oscillator. Your last light should be the Lamp above the first table we were working on. By this time, the Janitor's probably hit at least two of the lights, so you can either turn back on some of the one's he's turned off, or move on to the next Oscillator above the last Lamp you turned on. Take it and step back around to the other side of the Computers so you can turn them off. Now, turn on the TV and toss your Flare into the gap of darkness just in front of the Exit and you're loose! Hit that Lamp, then grab the Bomb in the corner. Now, throw your second Bomb in the southeast corner, the VERY southeast corner, so you hit the nearby Window, but not the Oscillator. This will allow you to grab the third Bomb. Now, throw that Bomb in the northeast corner, but actually throw it a little high, so it almost hits the ceiling. You'll take out two Windows, and with luck, not the Lamp just to their south. Now, head down to the southeast corner and turn on the Oscillator so you can grab the Remote, then turn off the Oscillator. Now, hit the Remote and go to the TV and turn on the Computer. First, turn on the Lamp. Go to
the far right of the glow and take the Remote. Turn on the first TV and go to
the top of its light, then hit the Remote again so you can reach the next
Lamp. Click the Remote four times to get to the northwest TV, so you can
grab a Flare. Now, click the Remote twice more so the first TV is on. Now,
go down to the southern lamp, all the way to the left, and drop a Flare to the
left. Turn on the Lamp here and take the Pellet. Now, use the Pellet on the
right-hand Window. Go up to the northwest area and click the Remote twice.
Cross to the east to the Window-lit area. Now click the Remote four times so
all TVs are off. Take the Flare at the southeast corner, then travel all the
way back up to the northeast and drop a Flare to the right so you can hit the
Lamp. Take both Flares. Now, to get to the Exit. There's a desk between
the Window and the Exit. Stand just south of it and drop one Flare to your
left, then another, so you can reach the last Lamp.
NOTE: It's also possible to drop your first Flare in range of the Pellet
without having to turn on the Lamp, but it requires a bit more precision.

The actual boundaries of this room are a bit wider, but this is all you need
to worry about. Okay, so the basic pattern of the Hall Monitors is that one
sits at the top of the room, and whenever you stop moving for a little while,
it will rise up from the floor nearby and grab you, slowing your movements.
The other one wanders around the room, and whenever you get close, it slashes
with its claw, which is what puts you down. Also, the wanderer will shut off
any light sources it crosses. Your goal in this room is the Flare at the
top center. Note that the "exhibits" aren't actually Lamps, but they work
exactly the same, so don't worry about it.
First, snap on the first three Lamps near you and grab the Cherry Bomb. Throw
the Bomb at the left-hand Window, but make sure you don't throw it too far to
the right or you'll smash a Computer. Anyway, shut off the three Lamps you
turned on in reverse order and go up the beam to grab the Remote. Use it to
cross to the right side via two TVs. At the end of the second TV, turn on
the next three Lamps and grab the Pellet. Slingshot the other Window. Now,
turn off the three Lamps on this side in reverse order and shut the TVs off
for good measure. Go up to the top of the beam and turn on the Computer to
light up the Lamp in the middle. Turn that on and grab the Flare. Now,
stand in one of the Window beams of light and drop your Flare nearby. Wait
on top of the Flare for one of the Monitors to try to grab you, but it will
get burned instead. When its sibling comes over to help, it will also get
roasted, and you're done!

Snag the Cherry Bomb, then toss it at a high point in the northwest corridor.
You should get both Windows in the area and NOT knock out the Computer. Turn
on the Lamp so you can answer the Phone and get around to the Computer. Turn
that on, then turn off the Lamp. Now, turn on the nearby Oscillator. Follow
the Oscillator's beam so you can go to the northeast corner and grab the
Remote. Now, turn off the Oscillator. Next, hit the Remote four times to turn
on the TV on the west wall. Grab the Cherry Bomb that's lit up, then throw it
into the northeast corner so you catch the Window, but not the Lamp just to
the left of it. Now, head to the east (you should JUST have enough room to
squeeze around the desk near the Oscillator) and hit the Lamp near the
northeastern window. Done!

Begin with the Lamp next to you. Grab the Pellet to the west, then break
the one Window on the north wall. Turn off the Lamp while standing to the
north of it and head up to the next Lamp. Grab the Pellet and break the
northernmost Window on the east wall. Turn off the Lamp behind you. Now,
head east and grab the Remote. Click the Remote once, then hit the nearby
Lamp. Grab the Pellet that you can see, then go back west and break the
northernmost Window on the west wall. Go back east over to the Lamp and
follow the new path west until you pick up the Pellet next to the TV. Click
the Remote eight times, and use the Pellet on the remaining Window on the
west wall. Now walk as far southeast as you can go on the new beam of light,
then click the Remote another eight times so you can access the Lamp in the
corner. Once that's on, click the Remote another seven times so you can hit
the Oscillator. Click the Remote another six times to turn the TVs off.
Now, wait so you can cross the Oscillator beam to the top of the room. Once
the beam points to its very apex, you can turn on the Lamp next to the
Exit.

Turn on the nearby Lamp and grab the Cherry Bomb. Your target is the
southeast Window, only throw some ways north of it to avoid smashing the
nearby Oscillator. Now, turn off the Lamp, and take two of the other three
Cherry Bombs in the area. Throw one somewhat east of the northwestern Window,
and another somewhat west of the northeastern Window. Now, turn on the Lamp
on the west side and answer the Phone.
Okay, the idea here is to turn on the four Oscillators so that their beams
roughly end up converging. Oscillators, when shut off, will maintain their
position, and resume their sweeping pattern from where they left off, so if an
Oscillator gets to its spot early, turn it off for a few seconds, then back on
so it ends up aligning with the others. Practice and experiment. Oh, and
don't bother using the Lamp to the west as a "safe zone", because only the
second Oscillator will reach it, so it doesn't make a good jumping off point.

Take the Pellet and smash the Window. Grab the five Pellets that are now
visible. Okay, there are fifteen Computers in this area, and your job is to
break the "correct" five Computers so that when you turn them on, you'll be
able to reach the Exit. Since you bothered to look this guide up, I'll just
tell you the five you want. One is the one in the northwest corner, perched
on top of a stack of chairs. The next is the one just to the left of that,
on a chair. The third is on the horizontal desk nearby; it's the right-hand of
the two. The fourth is on the vertical desk on the east side; smash the
middle one. The last one is in the northeast corner, the right-hand of the
two near the Exit. The best tactic is to hold Z and shine the Flashlight on
the Computer you want to smash so it illuminates briefly so you can line up
a shot.

This room is an Oscillator chase all over the place. Hit the first Oscillator,
then the one on the west wall. After that, hit the one to the lower right that
ends up in the beam. Now, shut off the first Oscillator and wait in the entry
light. Wait until there's a space for you to run to the third Oscillator's
beam, then head to the Oscillator and Lamp in the southeast corner. Answer
the Phone. Now, in the beam of the fourth Oscillator, turn off the third
Oscillator. Follow the beam north to a fifth Oscillator, then a sixth. Go
back and turn off the fourth, then follow the sixth Oscillator up to the
northeast corner and hit the seventh Oscillator. Turn off the sixth
Oscillator, then follow the beam and turn off the fifth Oscillator. At the
end of the seventh's sweep, hit the eighth Oscillator, then the ninth in the
northwest corner, then the Exit. I imagine that's tough to follow on paper,
but the step-by-step will probably be more help.

Okay, the Coach is right there in the middle of the room, and he ain't
budging for you. Like the English Teacher, the idea is to hit him with four
lights (Flashlight doesn't count this time). While you're attempting this,
he's flinging dodgeballs at you. Any hit with a ball will finish you, even
a rebound, so keep moving to avoid them.
Also, whenever you damage the Coach, he will soon emit a scream that destroys
any electric light source that's currently on. He won't touch Windows,
though, and anything that's turned off when he screams will be safe.
All righty. Turn on the nearby Lamp and grab the Cherry Bomb. Toss it at the
left Window, but definitely well to the left so you don't hit the Lamp.
About halfway up the beam, hit the Lamp on your left, then your right to
damage the Coach once. After he screams, hit the Lamp at the top of the
screen, then grab the Flare to the left. Turn on the Lamp further to the
right, then drop the Flare at its right end. Turn on the Computer for
damage #2, but don't dally here. QUICKLY grab the Cherry Bomb and throw it
to the right of the remaining Window (don't want to bust the Computer you're
standing in. Get in the beam of light before the Coach screams again.
Okay, for the third damage, go halfway down the beam and hit the Lamp to your
right. Take the Remote, then click it once. Grab the Flare in the southeast
corner. Now, click the Remote again to damage the Coach. For the last part,
turn on the Lamp to the right, then drop your Flare at the very left edge of
its glow so you can reach the next Lamp, and then the Oscillator. Done!

Yet another room that requires careful use of turning things on and off, as
well as having some interesting barrier setups. Use the Lamp and grab the
Flare. Drop the Flare at the top of the light to reach the next Lamp.
Answer the Phone, and take the Flare and Pellet. Use the Pellet on the east
wall Window, and drop the Flare into the gap between the Lamp glow and the
Window beam so you can cross. Now, head left and use the Lamp there, then
hit the Lamp to the north and grab the Flare. Now, shut off the two Lamps
as you backtrack and head to the center of the room. Use the Lamp in the
center, then make your way around the table to the east and hit the Lamp
further to the east. Now, stand between the two rightmost chairs below you and
drop the Flare on the space south so you can reach the Pellet. Use the
Pellet on the last Window. Head up the Window beam and turn on the nearby
Lamp so you can reach another Flare. Shut off the same Lamp. Now, stand next
to the upper Window and drop a Flare to your left so you can reach the
Oscillator. Now, head back around the tables and stand above the rightmost
Lamp that's lit so you can turn it off safely. Lastly, follow the Oscillator
beam to the Lamp near the Exit.

Ah, remember Motion Sensors? Seems so long ago. This time, the Sensors are
entirely driven by Pellets, so grab the Pellet nearest you and fling it at
the Motion Sensor in the southwest corner. Grab the next Pellet and aim for
the leftmost Window on the north wall, which will activate another Sensor.
Take the two Pellets and the Flare. Break the Window directly north of the
Flare and turn on the Lamp. Now, go to the southeast corner of the Lamp glow
and toss the Flare to the southeast. Fling your last Pellet at the Sensor in
the southeast corner. Quickly take the Flare and go to the very north of the
Sensor's light. Drop your Flare to your north so you can reach the Lamp.
Take the Pellet and shoot it at the northeast Motion Sensor. Grab the Pellet
that's in range and break the Window on the east wall. Now, grab the Flare
in the northwest corner and drop it in front of the Exit so you can leave.

Okay, that's twelve Computers, so you need to bust two to even turn them on,
but you also need to break another three so you can work the TVs. Take the
Pellet, break the Window, and collect the Remote and three Cherry Bombs. The
five Computers you need to break are as follows: the two in the southeast
near the Window, the two in the very northeast along the west wall, and the
one in the very southwest corner (throw at the south wall nearby so you don't
catch the Computer to the north). Once all five are busto, turn on the
Computers and then use the Remote to hop to the Exit.

As we're getting into the stretch, this is a long one. Use the first Pellet
on the Sensor to your left so you can answer the Phone. Turn on the Lamp
first so the Sensor doesn't die while you're listening. Use the Pellet on
the southeasternmost Window. Now, shut off the nearby Lamp, and you'll begin
a series of slingshotting. The next Window is the northwesternmost, then the
one that's now southeasternmost, then the one just to the right of the Exit,
then the one just to the right of that. You should get a Remote out of the
deal, so click it once to get another Pellet. Walk over to the Motion Sensor
to trip it, then press the Remote again and stand in the TV's glow. Fire your
Pellet at the Sensor in the northwest corner. Hit the Lamp here (once the
southwest Sensor turns off) and take the Pellet. Use it on the northeast
Window and turn the Lamp back off. Head over to the east and grab two more
Pellets (one's kind of in the darkness). Use one of the Pellets on the last
Window and hit the Oscillator. Follow the Oscillator beam to the Computer
and one more Pellet. Go back and turn off the Oscillator, then head to the
upper-left Sensor, then to the TV's glow. From there, wait for the Sensor to
turn off (so you don't overload the Light Bar), then fire a Pellet at the
lower Sensor. Now, you can grab the Flare, then hop back into the TV glow and
wait for the lower Sensor to go out. Fire your last Pellet at the upper
Sensor, then head just under the Exit and drop your Flare in front of it so
you can leave!

The trick here is that there are a LOT more Oscillators than you need. Oh,
and that this room requires pinpoint timing as you move around to catch the
"next" Oscillator you always need to get. Also, the Oscillator tends to be
just out of the light, so you really need to plot your route to get there.
It's actually a pretty quick room. You just have to stay on your toes at all
times.
Turn on the Oscillator next to you, then head right. Turn on the Lamp and
the Oscillator on the RIGHT. Wait for the second Oscillator's beam to sweep
up, then run over to the entryway and shut off the first Oscillator. Wait for
the remaining one to come back around, then follow up to the top of its arc and
hit the Oscillator just out of range of its light. Follow this new Oscillator
over to the southeast corner and shut off the Oscillator first, then the
Lamp, then head back to the west to the southwest corner. Turn on the Lamp
and the LEFT Oscillator. Wait for this new one to start sweeping right, then
run north up its beam to the very top to find another Oscillator. In this
new Oscillator's beam, shut off the one nearby, then continue east to find
another Oscillator. Hop into the beam of this one, then wait until it goes to
a downward sweep. Follow the beam in its tiny little glow to the Oscillator
to the east. You can't jump into this new beam, so go back west (shutting
off the nearby one in the process), then wait for the new beam to sweep up to
the northwest. Go ABOVE the blackboard. There's an Oscillator that's VERY
tough to spot and snag, but it's there. This one points to the west, so shut
off the old Oscillator in its beam, and turn on the one in the very northwest
corner. This one reaches the Exit. Phew! The step-by-step might help you

Ah, the Principal. Here's his deal. He doesn't attack or anything like
that. All he does is sit there at his desk, and whenever you turn on a
light, he removes it. Break a Window, and he'll close it off. From the
moment you throw your very first Bomb, you need to move quickly and cleanly
to finish him off, and the way to do that is to hit him with Cherry Bombs.
Four, to be exact. Hitting him will also delay his "extinguishing" tactic,
so that's nice.
Also, this last mission will teach you the importance of throwing Cherry
Bombs WHILE MOVING. It's HARD, because you need to aim, hold A, and throw,
all while moving Jake in a specific direction, but you have to do it in order
to stay ahead of the Principal. Just so you know, this all goes QUICK.
Take the Cherry Bomb and throw it at the northwest corner to break both
Windows. Run up and grab the next Bomb and while running back down the beam,
throw it at the two Windows on the east wall. Run east along the upper
beam and grab the next Bomb. Throw it at the Principal while running to the
spot where the beam in the nearby Window will appear (you'll break the Window
and damage him). Now run up to the Window and grab the next Cherry Bomb and
throw it at the Principal while running south. Hit the Lamp and grab the
Bomb to your south. Throw it at the Principal while moving to the southeast
corner to grab the Remote. Click it once and run into the TV's glow to get
the last Cherry Bomb. Waste him, and you're done! Congratulations!

5A. Items =

Flashlight
- The Flashlight is the only item that always stays with you. You will always
enter a new room with nothing but your Flashlight available.
- Press and hold down A to project a beam of light into the darkness,
illuminating any objects and scattering any dark buggies that are there.
- The "endpoint" of the Flashlight is where your cursor is, so if you have
the cursor at the opposite end of the room, your beam will reach the wall,
but if your cursor is midway, your beam will instead end on the floor at
that point.
- The Flashlight is mainly used for scouting purposes to see things in the
dark so you can plan your route. It serves little purpose as an actual light
source since you can't step on its beam. Still, you CAN move with it active.
Also, if you pass the beam over a light source, the light source will remain
visible for a very short time, just to remind you it's there.
- The Flashlight has a battery level. If it runs out, simply shake the
Remote to recharge it.
Slingshot (Pellets)
- Okay, so technically, you also enter every new room with your slingshot, but
it has no ammo, which is why you'll need to pick up pellets to use it.
- Pellets appear as a flat green box.
- To use the slingshot, hold Z to assume the "behind Jake" view, then aim
with the pointer and fire with A.
- The primary use of the slingshot is to shatter windows, creating a light
source with them.
- The secondary use of the slingshot is to actually break certain electronic
light sources, usually in the case that the danger of an overload is keeping
you from moving forward.
TV Remote
- The TV Remote appears as a white rectangle with buttons on it.
- With the Remote equipped, simply press A to use it.
- Using the Remote will turn on a TV in the area. Using it again will turn the
TV off.
- If there are multiple TVs in the area, then using the Remote will cycle
through all those TVs in a set pattern, turning the next one on, while
shutting of the previous one. The last click of the remote will simply turn
the last TV off, where you can begin the pattern again.
Cherry Bomb
- The Cherry Bomb appears as a red sphere with a fuse.
- To throw, point your cursor at your target, hold down A, then move the
Remote in a throwing motion. You may also use the Z Button to line up your
shot if needed. Also, you can move around while aiming and throwing.
- Cherry Bombs serve a similar use as the Slingshot, in that it can break
things.
- The Cherry Bomb has a blast radius, and any windows or electronics that
are caught in the radius will be destroyed. In this sense, using Cherry
Bombs responsibly entails tossing them strategically so that the blast breaks
necessary windows, but spares any nearby electronic light sources.
Flare
- The Flare appears as a red stick.
- To use a Flare, equip it, face the direction you wish to use it, then press
A. Then move the Remote sideways to strike the Flare. Jake will then toss
the Flare in front of him.
- The basic use of the Flare is to provide a small light source (pretty much a
single square). This is essential in areas where the next safe zone, light
source, or item is just out of reach and you just need a couple extra feet to
reach it.

Entrance
- Although it's pitiful, it does count. The entrance to each room has a
small light coming through its window that is generally just enough for you
to move around in a couple of squares.
Window- Most areas have Windows along the walls. These are obvious the moment you enter an area, as they have a light coming from behind them. - Smash a Window with either the Slingshot or a Cherry Bomb and a beam of light will emanate out of it, stretching straight ahead all the way to the opposite wall. - This is the only light source that doesn't require power to run, and as such, doesn't fill up the Light Bar. Lamp - Lamps appear as having conical white lampshades on them. - They can be activated by standing near them and pressing A. - They will create a circular light source that extends at a radius of about two squares. - Also, there is one area where there are displays that act as Lamps. They don't look like Lamps, but function exactly the same way. - Each Lamp fills up 20 units (20%) of your Light Bar. Computer - Computers appear as flat panel monitors, usually sitting on desks or tables. - A Computer can be activated by standing near one and pressing A, although not every Computer can be turned on manually. - Turning on one Computer will immediately turn on every Computer in the room. This is an important point, because there may sometimes be more Computers in the room than space in the Light Bar, so make sure you count how many are in the room before turning them on. - Each Computer generates a somewhat circular beam of light that starts about a half a square in front of the Computer, and extends about two squares. - Every once in a while a Computer screen will flicker and momentarily go out. You'll be given audio and visual warning of it happening, so it shouldn't surprise you too much. - Each Computer fills up 10 units (10%) of your Light Bar. TV - TVs appear as CRT monitors (with more depth than Computer monitors). - A TV can only be activated with the TV Remote (see above in Items). - A turned-on TV will generate a directional wide beam of light that extends about four squares, and is about three squares wide at its widest. The beam is more conical than the Computer. - Each TV fills up 25 units (25%) of your Light Bar. Oscillating Light - An Oscillator appears as a circular light pointing to the side, sitting on a stand, somewhat looking like an electric fan. - They can be turned on by standing near one and pressing A. - Once turned on, an Oscillator will perform a routine left-to-right sweep in a desginated pattern. No two Oscillator patterns should be considered alike, but each Oscillator has the same pattern each time it's turned on. - The Oscillator beam is considerably longer than TVs or Computers (about seven squares long), and about three squares wide at its end. - Each Oscillator fills up 20 units (20%) of your Light Bar. Motion Sensor - Motion Sensors are wall-mounted lights that are identified by the small red LED on them. - Activate MSs by walking up to them or by shooting a Slingshot in range of their Sensor. - A Motion Sensor will light up the immediate area in a radius of about five squares. - A Motion Sensor will switch back off after about ten seconds of turning it on, regardless of whether or not you leave its range. - Each Motion Sensor fills up 30 units (30%) of your Light Bar. ****************************************************************************** 6. EXTRAS ****************************************************************************** ============= 6A. Endings = ============= Bad Ending To get the bad ending, simply ignore one or more of the phone calls that occur throughout the game. --- Good Ending Answer all the phones in one file (going back through the school map doesn't count) to get the good ending. ================= 6B. Unlockables = ================= Dark Mode Beat the game in any capacity to unlock Dark Mode, which you can access if you start a new file. In Dark Mode, Jake will appear as a silhouette, making him more difficult to see, but that's not the nasty part. The truly horrific part of this mode is that you're now timed, and as you proceed through each room, the lights will get dimmer and dimmer. You should have just enough time to complete each room perfectly before the lights go out completely. --- Rachael To unlock Jake's lovely girlfriend for play, simply get the Good Ending. To play as her, you need to start a new file.
