You may as well, since there's nothing else for you to spend your money on. Your character has three equipment slots: one for a necklace, and two bracelet slots for their left and right wrists (respectively). The benefits are wide-ranging both in and outside of combat, so it's worth considering regardless of how you play the game. Equipment is bought using Das, the game's currency, which is obtained by defeating animals in the rhythm game. Most equipment can be purchased from the various oyaji (the bearded men) scattered around the main overworld areas, using the first option in their dialog tree. They all have the same stock, so it doesn't matter which one you talk to. Initially, very few things will be available for purchase, but more will unlock as you progress through the game's story. The equipment below is given in the order it appears in your equipment menu. The listing is mostly self-explanatory if you've ever played a video game before, but there are two subsections worth explaining. One, the "localized" item names. These are just for fun and flavor, and are not in any sense official. Two, the ratings system. The four possible ratings are as follows: Highly Recommended: Essential. Buy it as soon as you are able. Recommended: Good. Has some utility, but is limited or situational. Not Recommended: Mediocre. Overpriced or too minimally beneficial. Avoid: Awful. A total waste of your money and equipment slot. And that's all there is to it! /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ List Of Necklaces [NEC] /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ JAPANESE NAME: ナガイキのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Long Breath Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Diver's Pearls PRICE: 500 Das EFFECT: Doubles your air meter duration while diving (to 60 seconds). RATING: Recommended COMMENT: Helpful when diving for ingredients, or exploring the Sea. No real utility beyond that, but at 500 Das, it's a bargain. I'm also pretty sure that you need it to complete the Sea quest "クサイどうくつ". JAPANESE NAME: ハナキキのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Nose Efficacy Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Scenthound's Collar PRICE: 500 Das EFFECT: Doubles the radius of your sense of smell. RATING: Not Recommended COMMENT: I actually think this makes it harder to pinpoint the location of an ingredient. Plus, you run the risk of smells overlapping. Just read my cooking guide (assuming that's ever finished)! JAPANESE NAME: ウルオイのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Moisture Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Moistenite Marbles PRICE: 750 Das EFFECT: Greatly lowers the rate at which your thirst meter depletes. RATING: Not Recommended COMMENT: Delivers what it promises, but how often are you that far from a source of water? Never. You can even drink seawater and TAR with no ill effects. Not worth it. JAPANESE NAME: ゲキゲンキのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Extremely Energetic Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Miraculous Metabolism Motivator PRICE: 1500 Das EFFECT: Doubles the amount of health gained from eating food. RATING: Highly Recommended COMMENT: Very useful if you get hit a lot. Even if you're pretty good at the rhythm game, missing even a single guard command against tougher enemies can result in you eating 6-8 pips of damage, which is likely to be half or a third of your total health. A solid buy. JAPANESE NAME: クイハヤのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Eating Fast Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Gurgitator's Gewgaw PRICE: 750 Das EFFECT: Eating requires fewer button presses. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Barely speeds it up at all. Even if it did, just stop eating in plain view of aggressive animals. When will you ever learn? JAPANESE NAME: シノビのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Shinobi Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Ninja Necklace PRICE: 2500 Das EFFECT: Very slight decrease in animal awareness radius. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: The difference is almost imperceptible. Timid herbivores still flee at the sight of you, aggressive animals still attack undeterred. What a rip-off! JAPANESE NAME: ヒカリのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Light Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Luminous Lavalier PRICE: 500 Das EFFECT: Increases the light radius of the torch. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Even at night, it never gets particularly dark, and torchlight seems to serve no practical purpose whatsoever (not unlike Torchlight the game). Utterly, utterly useless. JAPANESE NAME: オイカゼのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Tailwind Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Tailwind Trinket PRICE: 1000 Das EFFECT: Slightly increases your running speed. RATING: Highly Recommended COMMENT: I wish the effect were a little more dramatic, but it's not overly expensive. This is the necklace I default to, because the only time it is not useful is when you are swimming. The speed increase is much more obvious when bunny hopping through shallow water, or if you unequip it after using it for a long time. JAPANESE NAME: スゴユミのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Awesome Bow Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Amazing Arrow Accoutrement PRICE: 5000 Das EFFECT: Greatly increases arrow damage. RATING: Recommended COMMENT: Turns you into a regular Errol Flynn. But at what cost? Nice if you're sick of playing the rhythm game, but it's pretty overpriced if you rarely use the bow. JAPANESE NAME: ニクズニのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Meat Enthusiast Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Meat Lover's Mantle PRICE: 3500 Das EFFECT: Dead animals explode into meat pinata style when struck. RATING: Highly Recommended COMMENT: Extremely convenient, even with the time it takes to go into your inventory to equip it. Works with both the club and the torch. Pairs well with the Amazing Arrow Accoutrement, but it's a big investment if you're not raising dinosaurs or trying to get all of the recipes. JAPANESE NAME: ドロンのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Slip Away Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Slippery Sigil PRICE: 1000 Das EFFECT: Fleeing from combat only ever requires one round (I think). RATING: Avoid COMMENT: There are only a handful of enemies in the game that require an additional round to escape. They're so uncommon I actually could not find any to test the necklace on. Are you really that afraid of missing a single guard command? Skip it. JAPANESE NAME: ??? PRICE: ??? EFFECT: ??? COMMENT: I don't know how to obtain this necklace. JAPANESE NAME: ノロノロくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Slow Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Moderato Metronome PRICE: Awarded upon clearing the Tower Of Trials. EFFECT: Locks combat tempo at 100 BPM. RATING: Not Recommended COMMENT: If you made it far enough to earn it, you probably don't need it. It's kind of like unlocking Free Play in an arcade port after clearing it on a limited number of credits. JAPANESE NAME: カルガルのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Hunting Eagerness Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Hasty Hunter's Helper PRICE: 2000 Das EFFECT: Walk at normal speed while carrying dead animals. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Very overpriced. Just cut out the middleman and save up for the Meat Lover's Mantle. JAPANESE NAME: ダスダスのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Das Das Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Double Das Dongle PRICE: Awarded upon revealing all of the names in the staff roll (I think). EFFECT: Doubles the amount of Das earned from combat. RATING: Highly Recommended COMMENT: It's great. Obviously. But you're not likely to get much use out of it unless you're really into collecting equipment postgame. JAPANESE NAME: オモイのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Emotion Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Dolittle Doodad PRICE: 1500 Das EFFECT: "Encouraging" ridden animals does significantly less damage to them. RATING: Recommended COMMENT: A great investment if you play this game like Grand Theft Animal. You'll get a lot more mileage for your BUCK. Ha ha. Get it? 'Cause, t- oh, nevermind. JAPANESE NAME: オモワレのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Thoughtful Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Thinking-Of-You Bijou PRICE: 3000 Das EFFECT: ??? RATING: ??? COMMENT: Seems to do nothing except allow you to complete the Wetland quest "ハラヘリのともだち". So. If you want to complete that quest, it's mandatory. If you don't, it's useless. JAPANESE NAME: ヒャクジュウのくびわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: All Animals Necklace "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: King Of The Beasts' Regalia PRICE: 9999 Das EFFECT: ??? RATING: ??? COMMENT: I think it says it allows you to ride all animals, but you can already do that. I have no idea what it's supposed to do. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ List Of Bracelets [BRC] /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ JAPANESE NAME: パオパオのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Toot Toot Bracelet PRICE: 3500 Das EFFECT: Double damage to mammoth-type animals. RATING: Not Recommended COMMENT: Works against all animals listed under the mammoth icon in the field guide (top left, herbivore side). Apart from dinosaurs, mammoths tend to have the highest health and award the most Das when defeated, but it's still too expensive for what it does. JAPANESE NAME: クエクエのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Caw Caw Bracelet PRICE: 2500 Das EFFECT: Double damage to (most) flightless bird-type animals. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Works against all animals listed under the flightless bird icon in the field guide (bottom right, herbivore side) except for the Dodo. Too expensive and too situational. JAPANESE NAME: パカパカのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Clip-Clop Bracelet PRICE: 2500 Das EFFECT: Double damage to deer-type animals. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Works against all animals listed under the deer icon in the field guide (top center, herbivore side). Too expensive and too situational. JAPANESE NAME: ズドズドのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Thud Thud Bracelet PRICE: 4000 Das EFFECT: Double damage to rhinoceros-type animals and triceratops. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Works against all animals listed under the rhinoceros icon in the field guide (bottom left, herbivore side) and the triceratops (bottom right, carnivore side, first page only). Absurdly overpriced and too situational. JAPANESE NAME: チョポチョポのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Chatter Chatter Bracelet PRICE: 2500 Das EFFECT: Double damage to dodo-type animals. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Are you kidding? There's only six dodos in the entire game, and I could only find four of them! Bar none, THE worst equipment that you can buy. Its only conceivable utility is facilitating the obvious "this must be why they went extinct!" joke. Awful, awful, awful. JAPANESE NAME: ガルガルのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Growl Growl Bracelet PRICE: 3500 Das EFFECT: Double damage to cat-type animals. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Works against all animals listed under the cat icon in the field guide (top left, carnivore side). I don't know why wolves are considered to be cats. Absurdly overpriced and too situational. JAPANESE NAME: ギャウギャウのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Roar Roar Bracelet PRICE: 4000 Das EFFECT: Double damage to crocodile-type animals. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Works against all animals listed under the crocodile icon in the field guide (bottom center, carnivore side). Absurdly overpriced and too situational. JAPANESE NAME: パタパタのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Flap Flap Bracelet PRICE: 3500 Das EFFECT: Double damage to flying bird-type animals. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Works against all animals listed under the flying bird icon in the field guide (top right, carnivore side). Absurdly overpriced and too situational. JAPANESE NAME: ドシドシンのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Stomp Stomp Bracelet PRICE: 4000 Das EFFECT: Double damage to dinosaur-type land animals except triceratops. RATING: Not Recommended COMMENT: Works against all terrestrial animals listed under the dinosaur icon in the field guide (bottom right, carnivore side), except for triceratops, for some reason. Maybe worth it if you can be bothered to do the quests in the Cretaceous. If you never make it that far, you'll never even see a dinosaur. JAPANESE NAME: ベリベリのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Peel Peel Bracelet PRICE: 2500 Das EFFECT: Double damage to ground sloth-type animals. RATING: Avoid COMMENT: Works against all animals listed under the ground sloth icon in the field guide (top center, carnivore side). This seems to be a catch-all category for all non-feline/canine predators, except ground sloths were herbivorous. In any case, too expensive, too situational. JAPANESE NAME: ????? PRICE: ??? EFFECT: ??? COMMENT: I don't know how to obtain this bracelet. JAPANESE NAME: ????? PRICE: ??? EFFECT: ??? COMMENT: I don't know how to obtain this bracelet. JAPANESE NAME: ????? PRICE: ??? EFFECT: ??? COMMENT: I don't know how to obtain this bracelet. JAPANESE NAME: ヒダネのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Hot Coal Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Ember Chain PRICE: 250 Das EFFECT: Barely increases attack power. RATING: Recommended COMMENT: The increase in power granted by the attack-boosting bracelets does not become significant until the Volcano Chain, but they're still the second best thing you could be wearing on your wrist. The effect stacks with the first best thing, the dude gems, so they're still quite good if you can afford both. If you can't, the gems are a better value. JAPANESE NAME: タキビのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Bonfire Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Blaze Chain PRICE: 1200 Das EFFECT: Slightly increases attack power. RATING: Recommended COMMENT: See above. JAPANESE NAME: カザンのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Volcano Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Volcano Chain PRICE: 2500 Das EFFECT: Moderately increases attack power. RATING: Highly Recommended COMMENT: See above. JAPANESE NAME: タイヨウのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Sun Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Supernova Chain PRICE: 5000 Das EFFECT: Greatly increases attack power. RATING: Highly Recommended COMMENT: See above. JAPANESE NAME: シズクのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Drip Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Twinkle Brace PRICE: 300 Das EFFECT: Barely increases guard power during "danger". RATING: Avoid COMMENT: More defense *sounds* good, but the braces will not reduce the damage you take from missing a guard command. They only reduce the chip damage you take from bosses when they're in "danger" mode (when they drop below half health) on a "Successful" guard (silver), and not by a significant amount. Perfect (gold) and Critical (rainbow) guards always negate all damage, which drastically limits the usefulness of defensive items if you are half-decent at combat. Their effect does stack with the dude gems, though, if you really can't nail any perfect guards. JAPANESE NAME: ニジのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Rainbow Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Prismatic Brace PRICE: 1500 Das EFFECT: Slightly increases guard power during "danger". RATING: Avoid COMMENT: See above. JAPANESE NAME: ホシのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Star Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Starlight Brace PRICE: 3000 Das EFFECT: Moderately increases guard power during "danger". RATING: Not Recommended COMMENT: See above. JAPANESE NAME: ツキのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Moon Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Moonlight Brace PRICE: 5000 Das EFFECT: Greatly increases guard power during "danger". RATING: Not Recommended COMMENT: If you're really struggling with the bosses endgame or in the Tower Of Trials due to the large amounts of chip damage, this could make it easier for you, especially if paired with the Transcendude Gem. Otherwise, don't bother. JAPANESE NAME: オヤジナガレのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Old Guy Flow Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Abidude Gem PRICE: 500 Das EFFECT: Barely increases attack power and guard power during "danger". RATING: Recommended COMMENT: The dude gems combine the effects of the attack and defense-boosting bracelets, making them better than either one, and the all-around best thing to be wearing in the bracelet slot. Buy them as soon as they are available. JAPANESE NAME: オヤジヒビキのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Old Guy Echo Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Resoundude Gem PRICE: 2000 Das EFFECT: Slightly increases attack power and guard power during "danger". RATING: Recommended COMMENT: See above. JAPANESE NAME: オヤジカナタのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Old Guy Beyond Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Beyondude Gem PRICE: 4500 Das EFFECT: Moderately increases attack power and guard power during "danger". RATING: Highly Recommended COMMENT: See above. JAPANESE NAME: オヤジキワミのうでわ LITERAL TRANSLATION: Old Guy Apex Bracelet "LOCALIZED" TRANSLATION: Transcendude Gem PRICE: 9999 Das EFFECT: Greatly increases attack power and guard power during "danger". RATING: Highly Recommended COMMENT: The best bracelet in the game.
