# Install dotnet!!! In this guide, I would like to write the procedure for installing dotnet in Fedora!!! ## Download the Fedora installer First, from the terminal using the curl command, you need to download the dotnet-install.sh bash script from the Microsoft website: ```bash curl -L https://dot.net/v1/dotnet-install.sh -o dotnet-install.sh ``` ## Make the downloaded file executable After downloading the file, you need to make it executable: ```bash chmod +x ./dotnet-install.sh ``` ## Install the latest version Once the file has been made executable with the previous command, you need to type the command to install the latest version: ```bash ./dotnet-install.sh --version latest ``` ## Configure environment variables The script will install the files in the default folder ~/.dotnet. To be able to invoke the dotnet command directly from the terminal, you need to add the environment variables to the shell configuration file (.bashrc). To ensure that the environment variables are updated, you need to reload the .bashrc file: ```bash echo 'export DOTNET_ROOT=$HOME/.dotnet' >> ~/.bashrc echo 'export PATH=$PATH:$HOME/.dotnet:$HOME/.dotnet/tools' >> ~/.bashrc source ~/.bashrc ``` ## Verify the Installed .NET Version With the previous commands, we have installed .NET. You can run one last command to verify that .NET was successfully installed. ```bash dotnet --version ``` ## Install Gtk4-devel To compile GUI (Graphical User Interface) programs, you must install gtk4-devel and pkg-config. ```bash sudo dnf install gtk4-devel pkg-config ```
