The Archangel's Cross --------------------- This is a simple tarot spread of my own devising. It's useful for fairly general questions, or to investigate an issue for which there isn't a concrete question forthcoming. It's especially useful as it gets you to think about various aspects of an issue, and/or from perspectives that you might not have otherwise. The basic spread involves drawing four cards, arranged in a cross, where each arm of the cross represents one of the four elemental domains, corresponding to the four suits of the tarot. East Air Swords North South Earth Fire Pentacles Wands West Water Cups The four quarters relate to aspects of the issue in question that fall within the domain of their corresponding suit. The exact arrangement isn't important, as long as you are consistent in relating each position to a particular element or suit. If more detail on any aspect is required, you may take the corresponding card from the original spread and draw four additional cards forming a cross around it. The attributions of these four cards remain the same, but the scope of their relevance falls within the domain to which the original (now central) card belonged. It may be helpful to think of these as elemental aspects of other elements, e.g., fire of earth.
