       @mntmn Out of curiosity, could you tell me your opinion on how &quot;open&quot; or &quot;well supported by open tool chains&quot; the different SoC vendors are? In the 10s, I often chose Qualcomm phones because they seemed well supported by CyanogenMod and later LineageOS but my assumptions were seemingly skewed just by the many volunteers who happened to own such devices. Now, when I read about the latest Qualcomm offerings they seem quite locked down with almost no proper support.I heard MediaTek was a nightmare for free software support. And I suppose you had very good reasons to go for Rockchip SoCs.

       @mntmn Only half a year ago I asked my team what was going on with SSD prices. They seemed to be in freefall with just very small price increases going from 256 to 512 to 1024 GB. I&#39;d never have thought such developments as now would have been possible.Well, we are only two thirds through our complete hardware rotation, and it seems the last third will be extra pricey. We didn&#39;t stock up neither.

       What&#39;s the current state of XMPP and OpenID Connect? My web search returned that ejabberd is still considering if and how to implement and Prosody has experimental alpha-stage support via a module. I couldn&#39;t find anything conclusive in regards to XMPP clients. What&#39;s with Gajim(?) and Conversations? Or other clients? Are there any web clients supporting OIDC?#jabber #xmpp #oidc #openidconnect

       @daniel I have Keycloak running and ponder if I want to go for Prosody again but authenticating against Keycloak this time. This means, users are created and managed in Keycloak. My previous projects with Keycloak used OIDC for authentication. But the clients should be able to authenticate via OIDC otherwise this would be futile 🙂.

       @daniel @mattj Ach, das war das Meetup, wo ich kommen wollte, aber leider krank war. 😄Back to English: For a few years now I want to get some contact again to XMPP because the IM landscape is too dependent on Big Tech, and Matrix … well, it has its use-case, I guess. I&#39;d rather onboard non-tech people to XMPP than to Matrix.I understand your intention re channel binding. I heard of the jabber.ru case. I&#39;m still not entirely sure, though, OIDC would block channel binding. AFAIU it&#39;s the SCRAM part that might get disrupted because there&#39;s no password involved in authentication anymore, just a token (or two?). The connection between client and server would be untouched, though.

       Von zuhause aus Dinge zu hosten, wäre so viel einfacher mit IPv6-only. Aktuell muss ich (zusätzlich!) irgendwelche IPv4-Krücken mit Portweiterleitungen konfigurieren, die nur im Ansatz was von ordentlichem Hosting haben. :-(#ipv6 #ipv4 #selfhosting

Ist ja nicht so, als gäbe es ein staatliches Register für Aktivisten und Terroristen, wo sie sich ihre Identität beglaubigen lassen können.
