@alexadeswift @AprilRye @sashag I don;t follow "big accounts" on general principle. People get popular for reasons, none of them good, and it also changes who they are. How many "real" connections can a person handle anyway? Authenticity counts a lot more.

FILMS AND WATCHING FILMSI don't watch many films these days. "So what?" you might be thinking. Fair point.However, when I do I often like to see what other people thought about them. And here my disappointment begins because many people seem not to be able to understand films at all. Yes, I am generalising but it seems to me that, at a general level, many people are incompetent to talk about any film with any level of nuance, empathy or consideration. They either only watch dull empty nonsense about superheroes punching each other or every film that comes out is just fodder for their opinions which they are going to read into everything deliberately. So any film with nuance, with ambiguity, with subtlety that poses questions rather than giving answers and which doesn't simply signpost everything is immediately panned or misunderstood because it is either not smashy crashy explosiony enough or its not easy fodder for pre-existing agendas.So you just get endless comments of "this film is shit" from a person who gives no impression of ever having really engaged with it because they either couldn't understand it or had no interest to. People don;t do thinking anymore. They are becoming like what the media they watch has turned them into: instant opinion machines.For your reference the films which triggered this finding in me were Ben Wheatley's "In the Earth" and Alex Garland's "Men".#film #films #movies #cinema
