How to skin WinPlay3
====================

Included in this zip file are 33 bitmaps, which are built in to winplay3.exe. I have extracted them to .bmp files so you can edit them. The numbers correspond to the resource numbers in the original file - please don't change them!

I only use WinPlay3 to play files from my hard disk so if I have missed any bitmaps that you see if you use it for other purposes, I apologise.

You can change the bitmaps' colour depth and/or palette in any way you wish; however, on a 16-colour system they will display in the standard 16-colour palette and on a 256-colour system they will have to use Windows' palette system to find the best palette.

Once you have built them, you will either have to build them into WinPlay3.exe yourself if you have Resource Workshop or another suitable tool, or send them to me so I can do it. Please send email with attachments to maximsworldofstuff@yahoo.com (not my usual address).

Below are some notes on the bitmaps.

300
This is the main image. I have marked on with pink boxes where other bitmaps will be displayed, and I have shown around the edge where WinPlay3 always draws a line of pixels, white on the top and left and black on the right and bottom. This is a limitation of the program.

301
These are the large numbers used in the main display. If you add a background to the disply you must also add it to these.

302
These are the small numbers used to display the number of kHz and kBit/s.

304
This is the layer indicator, and nearly always shows "III" (ie. MP3 format). It shows in the lower-right of the display.

305
I think this indicates the type of MPEG encoding, and nearly always shows "I" (MPEG-1). It appears in the top-right of the display.

306
Mono/Stereo indicator. From top to bottom: disabled (when no file open), stereo, mono

307
Play status. From top to bottom: disabled, play, pause

308
Track position indicator. This displays oddly, so here's a diagram:

Original bitmap:

AAAAABBBBBCCCCC
DDDDDEEEEEFFFFF

At the start, you see this:

DDDDDEEEEEFFFFF

After 1/3 of the file is played, you see this:

AAAAADDDDDEEEEE

After 2/3, this:

AAAAABBBBBDDDDD

At the end, this:

AAAAABBBBBCCCCC

So the top half of the bitmap is displayed still, and the bottom half starts off on top of it and scrolls off to the right.

309
Status indicator. This shows whether the file is OK or not, and when the end is reached. If you're playing MP3s from a hard disk you should only ever see the 5th and 6th parts (the tick with a circle and the EOF).

310
Source indicator. The top one is displayed when no file is loaded, and the middle one when playing from the hard disk.

350-377
These are the various buttons in three states - disabled, normal and pressed (with the heavier black line around them).

Additional notes
================

The file information button isn't much use, so you can use that to display a nice image if you like, like on my WinAmp skin.

You can "turn off" other indicators by changing their images so they are all identical.
