INTRO:

Greetings fellow Heroes, and thank you for taking time to check out my first home-made map, The New King. I would appreciate any praise/criticism you might offer me, and I hope you enjoy it.

STORY:

The New King follows young King Arvronn as he inherits his father's kingdom. The plot basically unfolds in 2 parts - First, Arvronn must rescue his princess from the clutches of the evil necromancer (now ain't that original hehehe), and second, he must take the town of an evil warlord who plans to take over his kingdom. Events and story-line are very important to this map, so while I'm sure there are ways to stray from the story to beat the map in maybe a different order, or going off of the story line, I suggest that you DO follow the story, just for the sake of getting not only a fun map, but also a good plotline.

ADVICE AND MAP INFO:

1. This is what I like to call a "linear" map - it doesn't give you free reign over where you go, which direction you start plundering in, etc. There is a path that basically takes you from beginning to end, save for a few teleporters. With the map being so large, You will unfortunately need to spend some time getting from castle to castle on long roads - which is not necessarily a bad thing, for often this provides ample time to save money and resources. Fear not, though, for once you are beyond the primary continent, you can soon find a scroll to make your going from castle to castle much easier (gotta love those spell scrolls).

2. This is a map with HIGH POWER enemies. Your enemies will be stacked, and they will be tough from the get-go. But, this is also a map where YOU have control of how quickly you face these enemies. All of them are contained within their areas by colored barriers, and the tents needed to pass the barriers are placed strategically so that you won't be accidentally waltzing into the main villain's back yard with a few pesants and archers. You won't be able to get to him unless you've got a huge army yourself. As far as I see it, there are two strategies one can employ when playing this game - one is to stay around, cautiously, building a huge army and waiting for the right time to strike....the other is to strike quickly and often. In this map, you will need to build your army before you can go after the later villains.

3. Whereas this is a serious map, for the most part, for a bit of comic relief you may turn to the sphynxes, which will quiz you on a bit of old-school sit-com TV. 70s sitcoms, to be exact. Groovy :)

4. Good luck, and I hope to hear feedback from many of you heroes out there. Happy gaming.
