# Replay subsystem

In general, Dusk OS does not provide a way to access what has previously been
output on the screen. As a consequence, there is no convenient way to copy text
from screen, as known from terminal emulators or multiplexers.

[io/replay.fs] provides a subsystem that can be initialized like

1024 replay$

and will remember the last 1024 characters output (except backspace
which is interpreted) in a ring buffer. You can then use

10 replaylines

to replay the last 10 lines to the screen or

clip[ 10 replaylines ]clip

to replay the last 10 lines into the clipboard (if text/clip is also loaded).

Capture of replayed text can be suspended by setting replycapture to 0, and
resumed by setting it back to 1. Useful if the text to capture is already on
the screen but you have to do preparations before you can replay it.
