# Tar filesystem

The unit at [fs/tar.fs] accesses a tar file, through the [fs/core] API. This
API is read-only.

To speed seek operations (which would be very very slow if implemented naively),
we build an index of all records when the tar FS is created. It's exclusively
this index that is queried during "child" and "children".

For this API to work, the tar is expected to have a particular format:

1. All record names begin with "./"
2. Directory records have their name ending with a "/".

## Usage

Have a [io/drive] that targets the tar contents and feed it to
"newtarfs ( drv -- fs )". It behaves like a regular filesystem.
